Hey,

We were playing CE on the weekend and a group of new players contested the meaning of one of the Special destiny cards.

I would like clarification and your opinions on this please:

The card reads: "Have an encounter with the player who has the fewest ships in the warp (other then you)...

For an example

Player 1: 0 ships in the warp
Player 2: 1 ship in the warp
Player 3: 4 ships in the warp

I have always played the following way: When this card is turned I would have to have an encounter with Player 1, as the has the fewest ships in the warp.

However I have asked my gaming group and friend on their understanding of the rules and its an even split. Half of them believe this means you would have to encounter Player 2 as Player 1 doesn't have ships "in" the warp, so Player 2 has the least ships physically in the warp.

Any help will be appreciated, cheers

This is basic, basic math. Zero is fewer than one. Always.

This is also the example I use every time to show that there will always be someone, somewhere, who will misinterpret even the "clearest" of rules... shake

I agree with those above ...

Player 1 has zero ships in the warp

If they do not believe that zero counts as a number for special destiny cards, then ask them who they think is supposed to be the defense when nobody has any ships in the warp.

John, I totally feel your pain

I can remember having this arguement with guys in my old gaming group about 4 years ago.

The crazy part was that ALL FOUR of them read it as IN the warp and were not willing to accept the player with zero as the lowest number

Or ask them which alien has the fewest eyeballs in its image: Tripler, Human, Mind, or Void.

0 ships in the warp is fewer than 1 ship in the warp.

Tell the naysayers in your group that they're dumb and they should feel bad.
