Can anyone share some insights on this topic.
There is not a lot of info comparing both rule sets.

Yes, because there are few changes on rules.

I see only 2 material issues :

-there is 1 new event card : ambush. Just play without it.

-Siege engine counters now have 2 sides, with changing effect : 1 dice or 2 dice, and are player-colored.
Old ones have only 1 side and are neutral. But you can use it easily : 1 for side 1 dice, 2 for side 2 dice.

Otherwise no major changes.

We will see.

Uwe states that there have been significant changes to the rules and some of the components are also different.

Given the limited window on picking up all the stretch goals and game expansions (which certainly are not in the original) I think if you really like Fief you would do well to pick up Fief 1429.

I agree with you.

There are many little improvments in new version : ergonomy is really better, with title counters instead of cards for example.
New and better illustrations for counters (troops, castles and cities), revised boardgame, etc.

But the answer of the question is yes, because nothing prevent to play with the new rules with the previous version.
