This game seems to be a keeper... but once again is out of print. What chance it will rise from the grave once more, with snazzy cards and pieces?

I bet there'd be a market for it.

It is kinda dated looking, but I still like it. IF I were to chose one for a complete refresh, it would be Princes of Florence. I can barely read that scripted text.

I'd like to know what exactly and why they will call it a big box edition, I thought the expansions were just more cards. So they make the box bigger and then add some cards?
By the way, I do really want to get the new edition!! ... Just don't understand the big box hype.?

El Grande: Grossinquisitor und Kolonien features an additional board. Beside from that there are now 4 expansion with cards only (3 with normal cards, one with square cards).

my guess it's a straight reprint/contents of the 10th anniversary edition which included all the expansions.... I was thinking they'd call it the 20th anniversary edition since the timing will line up.... if it does get called "el grande, big box" it will only be because that's the naming trend now (alhambra, carcassonne, galaxy trucker, etc)

I was suppose to write Arabic Words, but BGG don't sport that, so you have to live up with this..

Well, with a big box or not, I'm getting myself a copy of this one. It's about time they bring it back on print.

El Grande Box.

Is there a Galaxy Trucker Big Box? I'm not aware of one.

Yes, there is a Galaxy Trucker big box. It's quite large and heavy.

Other than the Anniversary Edition? The "Big Box" part was my point, since the naming convention was what we were discussing.

Am I correct that there is practically nothing to entice a Decennial edition owner to jump on this?

"Big Box" has almost become the board game equivalent of "Complete Edition" or "Game of the Year Edition" for video games. I've seen a lot of "any chance for a big box?" threads for games with multiple expansions--it's part of the lingo now.

Who started this craze anyway?

has full details on this new edition come out? in any case I sure hope there isn't any enticement... my wallet doesn't need the hit....

the other "in thing" it seems on anniversary editions right now seems to be to supersize them... like ticket to ride, and power grid... maybe they could supersize the game board and the castillo (and make the king even bigger than it already is!)

Much thicker cardboard, hopefully! (Box, punch-outs, and that doomed-to-be-mangled insert tray).

Maybe some interesting wooden shapes/meeples instead of cubes.

Please leave the cover artwork alone; the Doris Matthaus stuff has its distinctive, unusual charm that grows on you and is sorely missed when it's gone!

You are correct. This one will sell to people that haven't managed to land a copy yet. That appears to be quite a lot of people.

It plays so beautifully without ANY expansions, I will find it hard to justify jumping on a 'Big Box'

Yeah, I have the 10th anniversary edition. Its one of the only games I have played where I have absolutely no interest in adding expansions because the base game is so perfect.
