I know Brits have to spend 2 turns to move all their ships upstream, but given the narrowness of the St. Laurent, and the fact that France is already struggling to defend 3 areas of landing (Abraham, Sillery, and Cap Rouge) from Etchemin, why allow the Brits to have 4 ships in the St. Laurent?

If the British player is only allowed 2 ships maximum in the St. Laurent- at any point in time - I believe there is still plenty of guess work involved with crossing the river. The French either has to spread thin over all 3 areas, or cede a landing zone to Britain.

I like this rule because it resembles Wolfe's small landing party. They moved quietly and secured a small foothold on the plains. I don't think marching 4 full strength blocks across the St. Laurent is reflective of this. 2 blocks is still a gamble for Britain, but once they secure a beach head, they can keep sending more each turn.

Point taken but I think it removes a some strategy options for the Brits and while the game aims to portray the war it is still a game a needs to allow the players the ability not just to replay the war, but to play commander or god even.
