Greetings Columbus Tabletop Gamers,
My name is Diane Sudduth and I am the Librarian for the Wizard World Comic Con Gaming Library. Tabletop gaming is a small but growing part of Comic Con with a library that consists of over 260 games that travel with around the country with the convention. As much as possible we try to involve the local gaming community in each city to make the game room a successful and fun part of Comic Con.
Wizard World Columbus Comic Con will be held October 31-November 1-2, 2014 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center. http://www.wizardworld.com/home-ohio.html
We are seeking between 4-6 volunteers to help introduce convention-goers to the tabletop games we love. We have a wide array of intro-Euro games, Tabletop titles, deck-building games, assorted card games, and many 2nd-tier titles. Volunteers will greet arrivals into the area, talk to them about games, assist them with learning rules, and guide them through the first few turns of their game.
We ask each volunteer to work two 4-hour sessions, one on Saturday, the other on either Friday or Sunday. The available blocks are listed below. In return for service to the library each volunteer is granted a full 3-day weekend pass to the convention (a $90 value). The pass allows early entry onto the main convention floor and access to all programming events excepting those listed as VIP Only or Additional Charge Required.
Volunteers from local gaming groups are strongly encouraged to bring cards/flyers from their groups and to discuss gaming opportunities in the area.
The time slots we are looking for volunteers are:
Block A - Fri 4pm-8pm
Block B - Sat 11am-3pm
Block C - Sat 3pm-7pm
Block D - Sun 12pm-4pm
Would you please share this information with the members of your gaming community in Columbus, Ohio in hopes that several will be interested in committing to participate? My contact information is below
Information we need from each volunteer is:
- Phone Number
- Email Address
- Which sessions they would be available for (ranked by preference)
- a brief statement regarding the games they are qualified to teach
Thank you very much,
Comic Con Librarian
