Just seen that the lords of war team at Black Box games have just released info on the units that will be coming to the game soon.
Magic Units are a major addition to Lords of War - not least because they introduce Tokens to the game!
Each Lords of War Faction contains multiple Magic Units in its Magic and Monsters Expansion, with each Faction having unique spells that only they can cast.
Monstrous Units bring a whole new level of strategic thinking to Lords of War. Not only can they all Move but, as you can see, they also have a Monstrous Defence Value.
The trick with the Monstrous Defence is that no Attack Arrow which deals EQUAL OR LESS THAN a Monstrous Unit's Monstrous Defence can damage that Monstrous Unit.
Weaker Units might be able to Engage them but your heavy damage Units will be needed to actually Eliminate them.
You'll now need to really think twice before you play out your high damage Units!
Flying Units are crafty creatures primarily used to interrupt your opponent's strategies.
What makes them unique is that, despite having low Shield Values, they can ONLY be damaged or Engaged by Ranged Units or other Flying Units.
They may seem small but they are MAJOR pests!
In addition to the above, each Faction will also be given more Special Units, more Elite Units, more Command Cards *AND* players will now hold 7 rather than 6 cards in their hand.
The Victory Conditions for Lords of War matches also change with the inclusion of Lords of War: Magic and Monsters:
- With your deck expanded to 54 cards, players now need to take 30 cards to win a match!
- With 8 Command Cards now in the deck, players now need to Eliminate 6 enemy Command Cards in order to earn a Command Card Victory!
