EDIT: This thread isn't about a finished 'ready to play' variant. It's a thread in which I share a bit of my 'design process'. Most ideas like the one discussed here (Lite Bonus Moves) never actually get implemented because I think they're not up to par. Just so you know...
We played a game of Tixel on a 7x7 board with 14 pieces per player and Lite Bonus Moves.
I'm still on the fence about Lite Bonus Moves. At this point in time I consider them to be too powerful for 7x7 and smaller boards. Maybe they are better balanced on at least 9x9? That's what I'll be trying out soon, once I get my Nestorgames Tixel Deluxe 9 by 9 Edition!

Lite Bonus Moves were made by black (me) in moves 9, 13 and 20.
In move 20 there were two of them even!
There were more inaccurate moves by white, but move 15 is particularly weak I think:
Lite Bonus Moves were also possible in moves 14, 17 and 19 but they were passed up:
