Hi all,
I haven't played this much yet, but I do have a modest collection of some of the more basic ships stored in the double-sided Plano tackle box (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001ECQPVQ/?tag=article-boa...).
Currently, I have the plastic blisters trimmed to hold the ships in their respective compartments, but it's kind of sloppy and certain ships rattle around too much.
I'd like to evaluate the possibility of using foam trays for cleaner and more secure storage. If I purchase a couple of these trays, could I trim/cut them into "cubes" or strips and insert them into my Plano rows?

Has anyone done something like this?

Specifically:

I got the Plano trays that you can put in the inserts for the sizes that you want. I keep the ships on the stands and fit them in. No issues with almost 2 years of playing.

Yes, I suppose that is what I'm doing right now, but I don't care for the plastic blister stands. I didn't cut them all cleanly, some are too loose/short and I think I'd like it better if I replaced them with foam.
I'm just trying to get some feedback on whether these foam sheets can be easily trimmed, and if they would fit in my Plano case.

I'm not sure about fitting in the Plano, but battle foam is really easy to cut with a sharp knife (a Stanley knife or x-acto works really well)

I use foam for all my board games storage that have minis. Because I had a few request on the method I did a tutorial. Just check this linkhttps://amaolivre.wordpress.com/miniaturas/arrumacao-storage...

If you want to see a few examples, see this link https://amaolivre.wordpress.com/miniaturas/arrumacao-storage...

Sorry, but I still don't have pics for the my full x-wing custom storage.

I don't understand. I just have the ships on the flight stands in each slot on their own. I don't have the plastic blisters they came in.

People will tell you how awesome the foam is, but it better be for that kind of prices! I just go back and forth from my LGS and don't need anything complicated. I'm more than happy with my purchase.
