Hi everyone,

The UK is preparing for RF OP1 - we're a bit behind the times with all the shipping delays etc.

When North America played OP1 it was under "old rules" - i.e. before the 50 point cap and all the new rulings. So I was wondering what you think might be successful now with the new rules in force?

Gearing up for OP1 here too, I'm playing through some practice games tomorrow night, here are my thoughts, note rules for my venue are ship-pure

1. feds
USS Enterprise E (32)
Racist Picard(5)
Adm Forest (3)
Shelby (1)
Paris (1)
Dorsal Phasers (6)
Total: 50pts

USS Yaeger (22)
Spock (4)
Fleet captain; Indy Klingon (5)
Sacrifice (0)
Valtane (2)
Troi (2)
Photon torpedo (5)
Total: 40

2. Klingon
Vor'cha class (26)
Martok 8 (5)
Total: 31

Vor'cha class (26)
Worf (3)
N'garen (4)
Total: 33

K'tinga class (22)
Gowron (4)
Total: 26

3. Wild Card Maquis
Federation Attack Fighters - 20

Val Jean (22)
Calvin Hudson (crew) - 3
Sakonna (1)
B'elanna (3)
Joaquim (3)
Photon Torpedos (2)
Focused Particle beam (1)
Ramming Attack (0)
Total: 35

Gavroche (22)
Michael Eddington (4)
Evasive Pattern Omega (3)
Kenneth Dalby (2)
Tuvok (3)
Total: 34

As fun as the maquis build would be to play I'm not sure it would be terribly competitive, I've run a few test games and even with all those cheap upgrades you run out of stuff to disable for the ship abilities really fast with no mass re-enables available and Eddington's tokens can't keep you alive indefinitely.

The klingon build is the standard OP klingon beat stick which always seems to be my fall back plan, not much to say there, the fed one on the other hand looks quite promising.

Any thoughts?

If you put Forrest on the Yeager, then both captains will be at skill 8.

That is true, but the sovereign needs his services much more than the sabre and putting him on the sabre would mean I'd have to fly them in a tight formation to keep them in range.

It would give me the flexibility to move troi over to the E though, which might be worth considering.
