I have a few plays under my belt but with mostly new players. For a long time I assumed the only benefit of Quarantine Procedure was to prevent a chestburster. I played last night with a buddy that has played tons of Ascension used the card had the idea to play Quarantine on other players and himself to look the top card and kill off his grunts and specialist to streamline our decks. I first questioned if it was allowed but I couldn't see any reason or wording in the rules to say otherwise. We all started using this strategy and soon my deck was much more effective. I have seen other people with concern for lack of trashing cards. Has anyone else tried this approach?

I love that card! Yeah trash those grunts/specialists whenever you can! Early in the game, I like to buy lots of recruitment cards so I can afford the more powerful attack cards and cards with effects I want to use. Quarantine is a good way of getting rid of those recruit cards later on, so you tend to draw the powerful attack cards when the fully grown aliens/perfect organism start to appear.
Also yes, very handy in case of a chestburster!

Having Quarantines is also a cheap way to get lots of 'Leadership' and 'Nostromo' symbols in your deck. Then just grab a few of Captain Dallas' cards, i.e Captain of the Ship (for bonus +2 attack) and Teams of Three (possibility of gaining a free character).
I also like to go for Ripley's You are my Lucky Star (avoid a strike) and Parker's Electric Prod (I usually play solo so this is the only way to keep that goddamn robot Ash at bay).

That's also why I love those sacrifice cards and characters that can kill other characters from Movie 3. I use them in mid game and then late game I like to sacrifice them all to streamline my deck.

I do find this game is harder to streamline your deck than other deck builders like Star Realms.
