For fans of Napoleon games (you know who you are, lol):

First, if you are ever in Madrid, Spain, I highly recommend the excellent history and gastronomical tours provided by Mr. Steven Drake-Jones, aka The Chairman. His Wellington Society ( http://www.wellsoc.org ) provides entertainment for all types of travelers, but he particularly enjoys embroiling his charges in the history of the Spanish War of Independence (1808-1814). We enjoyed every minute of his tours of Toledo and “Uprising! Madrid and the 2nd of May, 1808” last spring. He even put a picture of our visit up on his “Member Comments” web page. If you are going to Spain, you really should consider meeting The Chairman. He was in many ways the highlight of our trip.

Second, until January 7, 2007, there is a well presented touring exhibit of the life of Napoleon, on display in the South Carolina State Museum in Columbia, SC. It’s definitely worth a visit, and includes such things as campaign maps used by the Emperor. http://www.napoleonexhibit.com/

Cheers,
