My boys and I like star realms but would like the wife playing something too.

Anyone know of a game as quick, mildly strategic and as portable as Star Realms but with the theme of a Viticulture/Vinhos or Catan ?

So yes, I'm looking for a 100 card, deck building, 30 minute, trading in the Mediterranean/Meeple Farmer game

Well, it's not quite Viticulture, but Valley of the Kings is a great little deck-builder with an Egyptian theme that plays in 30 minutes.

+1 for Valley of the Kings. Also, consider San Juan. Not quite the same as its more of a role selection/tableu building, but it fits your other criteria really well and I'd bet your wife would love it.

So like a wine making deck builder?

Chardonnay Advance?
Friday Night?
Legendary Sauvignon?
Noirfall?

Sorry guys. Just kidding. Couldn't resist.

Don't fly and drive.

Thanks folks, I'll take a look at Valley and San Juan.

Dominion while on my buy list for a while, doesn't have the portability - isn't it 500+ cards?

Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars, where you will be forced to drift aimlessly farther into the vast, empty abyss of space until a lack of food, water and oxygen causes you to succumb to Death's cold embrace.

You only use maybe 1/3 or 1/2 of the box at any one game. The rest of the box and expansions are for added variety.

If you buy 2 deck boxes and then just pick the cards you want to play with before you play and pack those in the smaller frame and it is decently portable.

I don't have it yet so I can't say much beyond what I've read but Thebes: The Tomb Raiders might be a good one to look at too.

San Juan (second edition) would be a good choice I think, it will be released soon.

What? A second edition? With the buildings from the expansion? If I didn't already own the 1st edition with said expansion, this'd be an instabuy. Wow.

JMG, this game has been a hit with everyone I've played it with. Plays 2-4 excellently and, once the players know it, it ends in 30-45 min. For non-gamers, it may not be intuitive from the get-go but by the end of the first game, everyone playing gets it. The expansion adds the depth the base game lacked.

Kudos to Alea for publishing a quality product that the fans have been asking for.... although it took them long enough!

Take note, though; it's a tableau builder, not a deckbuilder.

Yeah it's coming back soon, I think it has the buildings from the expansions too.

Other suggestions I've just thought of:
