Because most of the gaming get together seems to be on Dallas' north side; a new meetup group is forming BETWEEN Dallas and Fort Worth. This way players from the west side of the Metroplex can game with the players from the east and no one needs to drive too far.

The first event has been posted and all BGGers are welcome to join the group and attend the event. The event will be at Lone Star Comics on Abram on Sunday October 15 at 1 pm.

EVENT DETAILS:
http://boardgames.meetup.com/351/events/5144962/
or
http://tinylink.com/?FccZqAJQY0

Please help build the gaming community in the Metroplex area by attending.

I consider Arlington as part of the Ft. Worth sphere of influence rather than a central DFW location. Something closer to the DFW airport would be more central I think.

Good luck with the group though!

There is a group, or two, up near Carrollton Texas, actually they meet closer to Plano, already; therefore I nudged this one south and west a bit.

The Carrollton group seems to be pretty small. I checked it out once.

I dunno if there will ever be a large "metroplex group". Our Dallas group is pretty big and the core Ft. Worth group is of decent size. Arlington has several networked groups as well. Check out the Yahoo group dfwmetroplexgamers. There isn't a lot of activity on its boards, but I know that there are several Arlington players that subscribe.

Tell me more of this Fort Worth group please. Where and when does it meet? I've been going through withdrawal for gaming since the bgg.con.

The Fort worth gamers meet on the south southwest side of Fort Worth on Sundays and Tuesdays. The web site should have all the information you need.

Good luck Ken! If I'm ever around the area, I'd be glad to drop in. (I'm in North Dallas, so the Borders / 1/2 Price nights are great for me) Hope to see you and Gail soon.

You may not have been there in a while. The Carrollton group I go to usually has around 12 people on average now. Ken's group is great also, I attended an all day meet once and had a very good time. If it were a bit closer I'd attend more often.

Just FYI, the Borders where the group met closed last week. I suspect they are looking for a new home. The website is still good, and should have more info.

I have heard that they are moving their meeting place to a video game store with a nice space for board gaming. From the group's web site; Update: a new location has been found, The Gaming Center at 5519 South Hulen Street, about a half mile south of our old location (Borders Books). Our first session there will be on January 23rd at 7 PM.

When you go, tell Mike that Ken says hello!
