Hi there I'd like some help understanding how choosing a year based scenario like 1914 works, specifically with regard to reinforcements and events.

What I'm getting at is that the scenario only mentions a couple of reinforcements and yet if you read the back of the various armies and ready the list of events by season / year they say they come it on specific years...

... so what happens... if you start at 1914 and play for a while will you end up going through every event and bringing in every army? Or is the idea that you only use a very few reinforcements and events, in which case how do you determine what to use?

The problem may be that the chart on the map only mentions when individual units and armies arrive. For armies you have to look at their army card to see what units arrive as part of the army. For example the US 1st Army arrives in Summer 1918 with 5 Infantry and 1 Artillery. These units may be set up with the armies for convenience, but can be built (if otherwise allowed by the rules) ahead of time. If you do not have enough units for a reinforcing army then it will arrive short.

So if you start in 1914 you basically will bring in every army and event (eventually if it lasts that long).

So there's nothing really special about the scenarios, just different points on a timeline really if you want to jump forward, is that right?

Yes, but some cards, like Gas in 1915, may only be played after a certain date.
