The summer heat slowed down the first season of Merlyn's Blood Bowl League, but it couldn't stop it! Earlier today Hakael's Hackers, home of casuality machine Mecharius Orcslayer and golden armed Beastman Lukr, faced off against Xlanhuapec's Revenge and Xholuax the Skink, the touchdown and star player point league leader. This was the third matchup of these two teams this season. The first match was played to a tie and the second was won by the Revenge against a Hacker team missing many of it's star players. But that wasn't the case today, both teams were at full strength and arrived ready to play!

The Hackers had the shortest route to the championship game; it's semifinal opponents bowed out rather than suffer humiliating (and painful) defeat. The Revenge rolled into the championship game with a 3-1 victory over the Soul Assassians. Both teams brought 150,000 crowns to bear for this pivotal game, and both teams decided to spend that cash on the dark arts to help secure victory. The Hackers bought three magic items from a local wizard and The Revenge bought the wizard himself. The Hackers won the coin toss and the crowd of 64,000 cheering fans were ready for some Blood Bowl!

The Revenge started the game keeping their distance from the Hackers, who lead the league with 24 casualties. But once the ball was knocked loose, all bets were off. Lizards started getting up close and personal to their furry opponents and the Lizards were going down but the Chaos team couldn't manage to get any of them off the field. Soon, the Chaos team got the ball back and passed and blitzed it's way to the first touchdown. Hackers 1, Revenge 0.

With only two turns to score a touchdown in the first half, The Revenge lined up strong on the left side. A rock from the crowd opened up a hole for speedy Weqli who positioned himself deep in Hacker territory, the ball was picked up by Yartza, the popular agile skink with a gimpy leg, but Xholuax couldn't handle the handoff and the Revenge looked like they were going into the locker room down 1-0. But Yartza wasn't hearing any of that. With only a turn to go and the bright sun making things even tougher for the stunty star, Yartza dodged his way to the ball and sprinted himself into passing range. Loosing a last ditch attempt to tie the game, Yartza connected with Weqli for only his fourth completion of the season. The game was tied 1-1 and it was Xlanhuapec's Revenge's turn to recieve.

Coming out of the lockerroom tied at 1-1, both teams were pretty much in the same shape as they were when they arrivied (much to the Chaos team's chagrin). The Revenge lined up strong to the left again and tried the same play. This time it went off much better and the Xlanhuapec's blue lizards drove deep into the Hacker's pitch.

The Hackers recovered quickly, putting men (or men like things) on the forward driving Sauruses and blitzing next to the ball carrying Skink. Suddenly the go ahead TD didn't look so easy. But with a series of dodges and maybe a handoff (it happened so quick, no one's sure), the Revenge took a 2-1 lead. Now all they had to do was hold for 5 more turns against the most brutal team in the league.

The kick was deep but the vetran ball carriers had no problems bring it forward. Progress was slow. The Chaos coach wasn't about to make the mistake of leaving his rear undefended this time for the fast little Skinks. Punch a hole, move up, hole closed. Finally, a big enough hole opened up for the ball-strippin', light steppin' Phinius and three of his closest beastman buddies to get with in four steps of a TD. That's when the Lizards remembered the wizard they'd forked over 150,000 big ones for. A turn away from sending the game into overtime, a fireball crashed into the squad, sending them all to the ground and the ball flying.

Xlanhuapec's Revenge quickly moved that ball as far away from their endzone as they could, but a greedy grab for a third touchdown left Hakael's Hackers with one last desperate chance to tie it. A block here, a pick up here, a couple dodges, and a long pass and they could still win this thing. But alas, it was not to be. Nuffle smiled upon the scaled ones this bright day, as they managed to grab the dodger as he tried to sneak past them.

Final score:
Xlanhuapec's Revenge : 2-1 : Haekel's Hackers

And the line that may be the real reason The Revenge are this season's champs:
Casualties: 0

Well written match report, not too much detail (a trap many fall in) so it remains clear what happened.
What rules version did you use?

Great report! So, was it Chaos vs. Lizardmen? Were you coaching any of the teams? Thanks.

We're using the newest rules, LRB 5.0 or PBBL.

Yes, it was Chaos vs. Lizardmen. I wrote the report for the league website so I didn't go into too much detail about the teams. I coached the winning team, the Lizardmen. It was a fun match and I'm looking forward to defending my title next season.

Thanks for reading it guys, and thanks for the compliments.

Entertaining session report on one of GW's best games. I like reading a report that you can actually follow along and see how the game unfolds without getting bored.

This one was fun to read! Good job.
