Wikipedia. The free encyclopedia that anyone can edit. Although a great source of information, this information can be tampered with by people with malicious purposes, or "vandals". The users on Wikipedia have decided to get rid of two paticularly sinister vandals, the DNA Vandal and Willy on Wheels. Every day, they will ban one user who they suspect to be a vandal. Every night, one user will leave in embarassment upon having their user page vandalized. Will the users get rid of the vandals, or not?

Roles:

Evil:

Vandals:
The vandals, also known as wolves, are the major evil role. There are two of them, and they will be talking with each other through GeekMail throughout the day and night, and every night, they will cause one user to leave Wikipedia forever. In the day, the users will be hunting them down and trying to ban them. They win if they achieve parity with the good team. Each vandal is given a name. One is the DNA Vandal, and the other is Willy on Wheels.

Encyclopedia Brittanica Official
Also known as a sorceror, this person works at the Encyclopedia Brittanica. They would love nothing more than to discredit Wikipedia by making its admins look bad, and therefore making the Brittanica look better. Every night, they will look for an admin (seer) on Wikipedia.

Good:

Admin:
The admin, or the seer, holds great power on Wikipedia. Every night, he or she will look through a user's contributions, and see if they have commited any vandalism, and therefore learn if that player is or is not a vandal.

Jimmy Wales:
Jimmy Wales, called a hunter by his friends, founded Wikipedia. He holds massive power there, but he is really too busy to use it unless he has to. If he is alone with a vandal, he will win the game for the good side. If there are two vandals and two good players, including him, the game will continue instead of ending.

TawkerBot:
TawkerBot works as a bodyguard for pages. Every night, TawkerBot will choose a user page to protect. If that page is vandalized in the night, TawkerBot will revert the vandalism. However, TawkerBot has been malfunctioning lately, and not only is the bot unable to protect the same page twice in a row, but it will also break down if it reverts any vandalism.

Ex-admin:
The ex-admin is honestly good, just misunderstood. You could call them a tinker. They believe themself to be a simple user, but long ago, they were an admin. However, they lost their status after commiting acts of vandalism - therefore, the admin will see this, and think them to be a vandal. However, since they were once an admin, the Encyclopedia Brittanica Official will believe them to be an admin.

Users:
These villager-like people have no special powers besides their own deductive ability. Like the rest of the good team, they win if they ban all the vandals.

Editing:
Before the lynch time every day, each alive player may send in one paragraph of text to the admin. During the night, these paragraphs will be sent to the vandals. The vandals will vandalize the text before anyone else can see it, and can remove up to two of the paragraphs. The paragraphs, minus the ones removed by the vandals, will be revealed to the players at dawn the next day. These paragraphs will be anonymous. The vandals may remove their own paragraphs.

Misc:
The tiebreaker is Longest Held Last Vote. The lynch time is 10 PM BGG time. The deadline for night orders is 2 AM BGG time, but dawn will always occur once all night orders have been sent in. Role reveals on death. Vandals can PM amongst themselves as much as they like, but must always CC me. The admin and Encyclopedia Brittanica Official will get random N0 views, of a non-vandal and non-admin respectively.

Re: WW - Wikipedia - Starts October 13th - Alternatives Welcome
The Cassandra Automatic Vote Tally System

Your Moderator has enabled the Cassandra Automatic Vote Tally system
for this game. In order for it to function correctly, your votes will
need to be formatted correctly. The following rules will explain what
you will need to do:

Players
1. All votes must be bolded

2. The entire vote statement must be bolded and enclosed in bracekts: [vote jmilum]

3. Only one unvote and/or vote per post. You may have both an unvote
and a vote in the same post, but the unvote must come before the vote

4. You may [unvote all] instead of naming the current player
you are voting

5. If you [vote nightfall] your vote will be locked (voting
nightfall is allowed in the same post as a vote for a player, but it
must come after it, this does not violate Rule #3)

6. Vote tallies will be automatically posted to the game thread hourly
if the tally has changed. The Tally and Vote Logs (for each game day)
are also available on the Cassandra game page.

7. If your vote is not counted be sure to check the Vote Log page and
see if it was marked invalid and why.

8. Case does not matter and simple typos will not cause the vote to fail.

9. You may [vote no lynch] if your game allows it.

10. Quotes below the vote/unvote statement may cause the vote to be missed,
especially if they contain bolded sections.

11. Non voting players will be listed in the tallies. This will only be
correct if the Moderator notes which players have been killed (see below)

Moderators
1. The moderator will need to post [Dawn] when the day begins
(after the night results are posted) and [Dusk] when the lynch
deadline has passed and the day is over. Votes will not be counted
after [Dusk] has been posted. They will be registered again
after [Dawn] is next posted.

2. You may include a day number in the dawn and dusk post for
informational purposes, but it will not be used by the system.
Cassandra will increment an internal counter each time it sees
[Dawn] no matter what day is shown in a dawn post (i.e.
[Dawn 3] the three is allowed but ignored)

3. After dusk has been posted, the Moderator may go to the game page
on Cassandra to request a Final Tally to be posted before the normal
scan period has elapsed (i.e. Game Y gets scanned at 45 min. after the
hour, if it lynches at 7pm the moderator may request a tally to be
posted from the game page before 7:45pm. it will also be posted
regardless of whether or not it has been changed since the last
posting) - Do this by clicking on the 'Retrieve Final Lynch Time Vote' link.

4. You will need to note which players were killed via the lynch or at night by
either posting [killed jmilum] in the thread, or by going to the game
page and editing the player list. When posting in the thread, be sure to post
[dusk] before posting the lynch kill, and post [dawn] before
posting the night kill.
Example:
A. lynch time has passed so post [dusk]
B. goto the game page and select a final tally to be posted
C. check the final tally and post [killed melsana]
D. after the night deadline has passed post [dawn]
E. post the night kill with [killed kima]

Your Moderator has chosen to use the Longest Held Last Vote method for a tiebreaker - This is just for Cassandra system, and there may be a different tiebreaker specified by your Moderator in the ruleset.

Re: WW - Wikipedia - Starts October 13th - Alternatives Welc
Today's featured article: BoardGameGeek

BoardGameGeek is a world famous website started in January 2000 by Scott Alden and Derk Solko as a resource for the board gaming hobby. The database holds reviews, articles and session reports for over 750,000 different games, expansions and designers, including card games and other tabletop games, as well as German-style board games, wargames and traditional board games.

The site has been nominated for 27 nobel peace prizes, and has won 13 of them. In 2012, a documentary about the site swept the final year of the Academy Awards, winning every single award possible, breaking all records. The site also has a huge amount of merchandise, including a themed copy of the game Puerto Rico. Their headquarters were bombed in 2007, killing thousands.

In the news:
*The nobel prizes are handed out. Recipients of multiple awards are Jimmy Wales, who wins seven, and BoardGameGeek, which wins two.
*Sid Meier's Pirates!: The Boardgame is released.
*The fifth week of mourning Reiner Knizia's murder is begun with the announcement of the date of his public funeral. Attendance is expected in the quadrillions.

Game on. Please, contact me ASAP if you did not recieve a GeekMail stating your role. Cassandra Communication System rooms will be set up for all players, to give night orders (which you all have, because of the editing mechanic), and in the case of the vandals, talk with each other. These rooms can also be used to ask questions that would give away your role if asked publically.

Nobel Peace Prizes? I detect the distinct trace of Wikipedia vandals. Let's ban 'em!

Oh, and because if I do not say it now I would forget to say it:

Paraphrasing text said by the mod to an exclusive group of people to prove you are one of that exclusive group is not even allowed in the sandbox. You will be banned from Wikipedia if you participate in this tomfoolery.

Nope! That is simply flavour text. Your paragraphs can be about whatever you like.

Quick point of clarification. You say we send one paragraph to the admin. So, to the "seer"? And they get sent to the vandals, aka the wolves?? I'm a tad confused. Please clarify...

Me = surpreme admin. Other admin = minor admin. When sending things in to an admin is mentioned, I am said admin.

Re: WW - Wikipedia - Long D1, Lynch 10 PM Friday
Okay, here is a summary of the editing mechanic:

Every night, if alive, you may choose to send in a paragraph of text to me. This paragraph can be anything you like - it does not even need to be related to the game. If you are alive and do not plan to send in a paragraph, please let me know so I know who not to wait for. Once all the paragraphs are collected, I send the paragraphs to the vandals (the paragraphs are anonymous, although you can choose to sign them). The vandals then choose up to two paragraphs to remove (the vandals are able to remove their own paragraphs). Then the paragraphs, minus the ones removed by vandals, at dawn, will be revealed to the players.
