O wise people of the Recommendation forums.

Please recommend me a game for lunch or point to the right direction.

Criteria in order of importance
1. Easy/Quick setup
2. Small box
3. Casual Friendly or easy to teach
4. Plays in 30 minutes as I still need to eat
5. Plays great with 2 but can scale up to 3-4
6. Thematic

I need a couple of recommendations and the usual suspects of
1. Jambo
2. Asante
3. Lost Cities
4. Jaipur

have been explored. Thanks!

Edit - Yes I already have Splendor and looking out for Targi

Biblios would be my first choice. Look no further!

No Thanks! is an excellent game! Scales well 20 min play time, small box, cheap and easy to find! It meets all of your criteria. The same could also be said for For Sale.

Coloretto is also excellent! My second choice I think.

There's always Bananagrams whistle

If you have 3 or more player then Sushi Go! is really great.

Coup

Love Letter

PS Targi and Splendor will take to long for your lunch

Yep. Biblios is the best choice.

Diamonds would also be good. Note, though, that Diamonds can be played with a standard deck of cards if you are playing with 4 or less. If you want to play with 5 or 6, you need the official Diamonds deck.

Splendor is another really good lunch hour option.

Here we go! These should suit your listed criteria unless stated. Theme wise, YMMV.

- Star Realms (this is a clear choice)
- Doodle City
- Patchwork
- Pagoda (this is great, involves some tactical play)(30-40 mins)
- Perry Rhodan: The Cosmic League (45-60 mins)
- +1 Biblios
- Glen More (OOP) (30-40 mins)
- Rapa Nui
- Railways of the World: The Card Game (ok with two, requires large footprint, 30-45 mins)
- The Pillars of the Earth: Builders Duel
- OddVille (ok with two)
- Morels
- Revolver (30-45mins, highly thematic)
- Spyrium (ok with two, 45-55 mins)
- Triumvirate
- Le Havre: The Inland Port

I've never played any of these. They could work:
- any of the pocket battles series
- Capo Dei Capi
- Gunrunners

I recommend Fluxx as a lunch game. My colleague and I play it during our breaks. It's in a small box, easy to set up and easy to learn.
Depending on the cards you'll never play the same game twice ^^

These ones we have:
Stoner Fluxx
Pirate Fluxx
Cthulhu Fluxx

Also you can try Port Royal but you'll need some space to place the cards.

Definitely Biblios. I was going to suggest Sushi Go!, but I'm not sure how well it plays with 2. I played it a few time at my work and it was easily learnt and enjoyed (with more than 2).

A lot of people around these parts like to crap on Splendor. I personally think you made a great choice.

So Splendor was a success. My colleague enjoyed it. We played twice and ask for a third but lunch was over.

On to the other games!

I have similar lunch time requirements, I'd recommend these:

Würfel Bohnanza
Roll For It!
Monopoly Deal Card Game
Gravwell: Escape from the 9th Dimension

I'd recommend Love Letter except it's really boring with 2P.

When we were gaming during lunch a few years ago, we (3 of us) would play Dominion. Also 7 Wonders (not good for 2), San Juan & Race for the Galaxy

Oh, I forgot about Hanabi and Glory to Rome!!

Here are two games that I think meet most of your criteria . . .

Sail to India - plays with 3-4. Easy to set up and teach. Plays in well under an hour -- 30-45 minutes. Plays deeper than it first appears. Comes in a box barely large enough to hold the deck of cards. For 2 players, I recommend each player operate 2 different colors and either add the scores, or take the lower of his/her two individual scores to win.

Empire Engine - plays well with 2; better with 3, or 4 (2 teams of 2). Described by one BGGer as "rondell/paper/scissors;" it actually doesn't have a rondell, but players make choices on which two actions to take using cards that work like rondells. Sets up instantly; easy to teach; plays in under an hour -- as little as 30 minutes. Adding a second copy of the game allows the game to be expanded to as many as 8. Comes in a velvet pouch like Love Letter and Lost Legacy.

Both of these games are ridiculously inexpensive for the play value they offer, and they come in small packages, making transportation and storage at the office very easy.

This is magic the gathering.
There is currently a big duel decks box for sale containing 8 decks. Get it at the lowest price available. (Should be $80, but you can "sell" each player two decks)

http://mtgsalvation.gamepedia.com/Duel_Decks_Anthology

Just be sure to distribute the decks randomly to avoid complaining on a later date.

Hah thanks for pointing this out. I'll get this but I don't think this is easy to teach at all.

I'm surprised by some of these recommendations. I love Biblios, Love Letter and Sushi Go, but I don't like any of them with only two players. But by all means, keep them for when it's more than just you and one other person.

Instead of Love Letter, try BraveRats. Similar game by the same designer, but 2P only.

Splendor is a good recommendation. Also try Augustus...we call it Splendor Bingo.

Also, Haggis.
