8 days and counting since the last post in the math trade announcements thread. 30 days since the last US math trade. It's been a while since either of these happened (I actually couldn't find an example breaking that first record going back a year). Is it usually slow around this time of year? Is this an anomaly?

There seemed to be a disproportionate amount of MTs happening recently, with all of the "leftover" MTs. Maybe that's part of it? Anyways, I could use one too, but there is a great big one to kick off every new year.

It's a bad time of year for shipping items. The shipping companies are already stretched pretty thin - we don't want them to start losing packages.

plus it makes sense to do so after the holidays (read: early january) since everyone might have extra stuff they are looking to offload (either from "bad" gifts or from taking advantage of sales).

some of us have too many games so if we get new stuff, old stuff has to go whistle

In the discussion thread of the last math trade, someone asked if there would be interest in running something that ends on or around Christmas. The bgg masses pretty much veto'd the idea, preferring something after Christmas to get rid of new stuff they don't want.

There's always an enormous one in January, so just hold tight till then. Plus, if you're in the US, people will start getting Essen boats of games in, so there will be lots of bright, new shinys then too.
