Hello,

as far as I know, Breakthrough scenarios only use the minis included in 1 single base game or any other army packs.

No need to have more than 1 copy of each. At least for official scenarios.

Cheers

If you want to play play Breakthrough you need the breakthrough map which is 13 x 9 hexes deep vs the normal size board (9 x 13)
and the breakthrough cards (which are nice because some units can move faster)

Overlord are the type of scenarios you can play with 2 base games.

One thing that's a big help is the actual Breakthrough Deck which is in Memoir '44: Winter Wars. In fact, I prefer to play Memoir with the Breakthrough Deck.

Of course you need a breakthrough board, and I would highly recommend using the breakthrough deck, which comes with winter wars. If you don't have it, look at the card manifests and change the base games cards to breakthrough, ie, a recons and probes now comes with 2 on-the-move orders, etc.

Breakthroughs are great--all the added strategic dimensions that come from having more medals, but without the bigness/longness that comes with overlord.

The minimum you need is a breakthrough board.

However, depending on the particular scenario you choose to play you may need additional terrain, obstacles, badges etc. from expansions.

While the breakthrough deck is nice, its not required.

Breakthrough deck is not necessary. But...it is the only deck I like to use anymore. In fact I only play breakthrough scenarios. The extra maneuver is Boss.

If you have 2 decks of standard Command Cards, you can download the Winter Wars rules from the website and configure your own Breakthrough Deck using both sets of cards. I have done this in the past to play the D-Day Landings.

Also, I am certain someone has created a chart for the ON_THE_MOVE orders as well as the enhancements to a few of the TACTICs cards so you know which cards have those orders. "Where there is a will, there is a way".

The differences in the breakthrough cards are given in the Winter Wars rules, p6:
