I am working on a design for a game website and I am looking for wargame maps to consider using in the design. I am interested in opinions on what wargames have the most visually appealing maps. Thanks.

Yes, Rick Barber's maps are always appealing.

Additionally, I really like the maps used in The Rise of the Roman Republic and Carthage: The First Punic War from the Ancient World series...

Two La Bat posts already? The La Bataille de la Moscowa (third edition) map looks very striking, especially at a distance. Holds up to close scrutiny, as well.

Edited for reasons.

Toulon, 1793.

As someone with a double major in (historical) geography and fine art (design) this one makes me weak in the knees.

These are a few games that I think have fantastic maps:

Summer Storm: The Battle of Gettysburg:

Battle Above the Clouds:

The Battle of Fontenoy: 11 May, 1745:

1777: The Year of the Hangman:

I guess I'm a Mark Simonitch fan:

Ardennes '44

Empire of the Sun: the only one I ever framed and hung on my wall.

Edit:
Not sure if he was responsible for the re-make of Hannibal: Rome vs. Carthage, but this is a beaut, also.

A few individuals involved in the creative aspects of wargaming are more appreciated for their touch then for their tact.

Without a doubt my personal favorite (visually) is hands down No Retreat! The Russian Front from GMT Games. It is a map that all other wargame maps should use as a guide for appearance.

On the other hand, the person who made the layout choice had best be asking: "you want fries with that?", Because the layout is AWFUL! The only thing actually usable is the CRT for each side but the rest is inconveniently and/or illogically placed and at angles that almost prevent it from being useful. (The pic is for the fixed Vassal map).

That said, this is one of my favorite games and aside from the layout specifically it is a gorgeous map to look at! So use this as a guide of how NOT to layout charts on a map.

I also LOVE the ASL maps, not because how they look but because I know I am going to get to play ASL!

Amateurs to Arms! from Clash of Arms has a spectacular map. In truth, almost anything from Clash of Arms would be a good choice. They are the industry standard, by a large margin.

Look at this in original size.

The Killing Ground has one of the most beautiful maps, art by Mark Hinckle.

These two are very good also, however, UKC is a top map but made some interesting choices on the information that decided to put on the map.

I was going to go with UKC as in addition but No Retreat! The Russian Front always wins the beauty contest with me!

Then I saw the topic I instantly thought of Red Winter and Sekigahara. Beautiful maps according to me, they depict different levels of battle though and if I was forced to choose one it would be Red Winter.

Every single day on this site I see yet another wargame I owned in the 70s that I completely forgot I'd actually owned.
