This game will introduce the Hunters from The Resistance: Hostile Intent and will otherwise be vanilla. This is a sort of super-Merlin/Assassin variant.

This rules summary is paraphrased from the The Resistance: Hostile Intent rulebook. If you own the rulebook and notice any errors, please correct me!

In this 7-player game the resistance and spy sides will have one Hunter and one Chief each. The spies know who their Chief is (and who each other are, as usual).

When choosing a team for a mission, the Leader must pick an Investigator (who may or may not be on the team).

If the spy Chief goes on a mission, he cannot play a normal Fail; he must play Success or Chief Fail.

Once per game, when a Chief Fail card shows up on a failing mission, the spies' Hunter may reveal himself and make an accusation ("X is the resistance Chief"). If he is right, the spies win immediately. If he is wrong, the mission counts as a success.

After the third successful mission, the resistance Hunter reveals himself, and must accuse another player of being the spy Chief. If he is right, the resistance wins. If he is wrong, the mission counts as a failure. This paragraph applies in reverse for spies (after third failed mission, spy Hunter accuses resistance Chief to win).

If this happens after the fifth mission, the accusations keep flying from each side in turn until someone's correct.

After a mission and any accusations, the Leader (if the mission succeeded) or the Investigator (if it failed) demands to see the loyalty card of any player other than himself. This will read "Spy Chief", "Resistance Chief" or "Not a Chief" (which last gives no information about spy/rebel status). The Dummy Agent may opt to show the Resistance Chief card if he wishes.

PBF Rules:

1) Official mission proposals should be in bold and contain the mission number and proposal number. For example M1.1: Firedrake/Firedrake. Per standard PBF etiquette, the fifth proposal/hammer will automatically be sent. For clarity please use usernames, i.e. the thing you send GeekMail to, not firstname or lastname.

2) All votes should be GM to me. Send your vote in the subject line. For example 'PBF 100 m1.1 YES'. To be on the safe side, use the voting links that will be present in every call for votes.

3) There is a non-strict time limit of 24 hrs on every official game action. If you are going to take much longer than that, please post in the thread in advance. Weekends are usually not included.

4) No game-related discussion is allowed outside the thread until the game is completed. This includes GMs between players and posts in other threads. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to ask! No question is too n00bish!

5) Do not edit posts, except in the first minute or so to fix typos. Deleting is an extreme form of editing which is also forbidden. If you do edit, please type why you are editing. Example: Edit - For spelling mistakes.

6) No dice have been provided to you. You may not use the Geekroller in this thread.

7) Please subscribe to the thread and check in at least daily (exceptions for weekends).

8) Submission changes rule: You can change a submitted card any number of times (eg PASS/FAIL, ACCEPT/REJECT) but as soon as I receive the card from the last player, no more changes are allowed, even if I'm not there to post the results yet.
If you made changes after all the cards were in, I'll tell you which submitted card was the final one.

9) Feel free to message Firedrake anytime. It makes the game fun for him seeing what your thoughts are as you figure things out.

10) Remember everyone is here to have fun! Bullying, cursing, and other unsportsmanlike like conduct is frowned upon.

I'm excited!!

I'll try to say the rules a bit differently, for those confused. Here's how the teams looks

Spies:

Spy Hunter
Spy Chief
Normal Spy

Res:

Res Hunter
Res Chief
Dummy Agent (I recommend including. If not, normal Res.) [btw I call her the Decoy]
Normal Res

So basically, most of the core is the same: your team must win 3 missions to win the game (with one exception, explained later). But after winning, your team's Hunter must reveal his card and accuse one player of being the other team's Chief. That player simply says 'yes' or 'no.'

If Yes, that Hunter's team wins. If no, the mission result is switched - meaning the token is flipped and the other team now won that mission. If this is the 5th round, that means the other team now has the chance to do the exact same thing (since they've now won 3 missions). Their Hunter flips his card, accuses, same rules apply. So essentially there could be this showdown in the end, back and forth flipping and accusing until one team gets it right.

Now, you're wondering 'how do I find this Chief guy...' Every round the Leader must assign what I call an Alternate Investigator (rules may just say Investigator). The Alternate MUST be someone who is NOT on the mission team, and can not be the Leader himself (since he is the prime investigator, I like to think). Thus you'll want to choose someone you trust the most, but who you're still not willing to put on the mission team.

Once the round ends: if the mission was a success, the Leader gets to Investigate. If it failed, the Alternate Investigator does. To Investigate, whoever's investigating simply chooses someone. That person takes the three Investigation cards (Res Chief, Spy Chief and Not a Chief), chooses the honest answer and shows it secretly to the person who investigated. This Investigation occurs at the end of every round but the 5th, and is delayed if an Accusation occurs (even if the mission result changes due to Accusation, who gets to Investigate is based on original mission result - Leader if success, Investigator if failed)

(The Dummy Agent may lie in an Investigation, saying she's a Res Chief instead of Not a Chief. If Accused later, she simply says 'no.')

Last bit - the Spy Early Accusal. One time during the game if the Spy Chief sabotages (and the Spies win the mission), then the Spy Hunter may reveal himself early and make an Accusal. So if the Hunter has a really good idea who the Spy Chief is and wants to accuse early, he can do that. If right, Spies win. If wrong, mission token is flipped, investigation phase occurs and next round begins.

I'm sure there are some more rules to go over but was excited to see that Hunters is finally getting played here, so wanted to add what I could. Have fun!

Thanks for the rules summary, Don. I understand, that Spy Chief still throws Chief Fail instead of normal Fail. Only Chief Fail can trigger Early Accusal, correct?

That's my understanding. (Note that it's still the spy team hunter who accuses the resistance chief in this case, even though it's the spy chief who may just have been outed.)
