Two late inning Twins rallies in the 7th and 9th dashed the hopes of the Atlanta Braves as the Minnesota Twins tore a hole in the hearts of the Atlanta Braves by thrashing them 7 to 2. The Braves were clinging to a 2 to nothing lead through the 6th on the masterful pitching of HoF Tom Glavine when Braves troubles erupted in the 7th and it was the top of the Twins order that created most of the damage with Knobloch and Gagne each coming up BIG. In their top half of the stanza the Twins put together 4 hits spaced neatly within 3 strikeouts but still managed to put 3 runners across the dish to take the lead for good. Then in the 9th the Twins plated 4 more tallies on 5 hits making their road to victory a virtual cake walk after what had been a much in doubt and murky outcome for the first 8 innings. Rick Aguilera was credited with the save when he came on in relief of starter Jack Morris for the last 3 stanzas. The stingy Aguilera yielded no runs during his stint on the bump. Morris, who also pitched quite well as he dueled Glavine pitch card for pitch card, was charged with 1 Braves earned run; the second being unearned against " the Cat". On the opposite side of the ledger Tom Glavine, who had Twins batters entirely baffled through the 6th, gave up 7 earned runs all coming in just 2 innings.

Bobby Cox admitted to this reporter that “I couldn’t believe it. We just totally fell apart. It must have been the extended rain delay that caused all this.” (Better luck next game, Bobby!)

The Twins now lead the series 3 games to 1.
