Welcome to the BGG Star Realms League. This thread is for the fifth season of play, Silver Tier, Ram Division.

The duration of the league is 9 rounds.

Each player will play each other player once.

When match-ups are posted, either player can send the challenge.

I am fully aware that the Christmas and New Year's holidays are likely to slow things down, so if people are less available next weekend or the one after that, it is completely understandable. IF YOU WILL BE UNAVAILABLE FOR THE NEXT TWO WEEKS, please notify me and we will see whether we should get a replacement for this season for you.

Each round will be played discretely. That is to say, all of the games from a round (within a division) will be finalized before moving on to the next round. However, 72 hours after a round begins (rounded to the next morning, CST), I will start the next round, even if all players have not finished the current round. (For example, in the case of the second round, I will begin it on Sunday morning if it hasn't finished naturally.)

Please play at a good pace. I don't have a good system for penalizing slow play, so everybody will be on the honor system.

Standings will be determined by record of wins and losses. Points scored will also be tracked. Though they will not have any bearing on the standings, they may be used for seeding in assigning promoted and relegated players to different divisions or in certain unlikely playoff scenarios. The columns you will see in the standings are: W (wins), L (losses), Pct (percentage of games played that are wins), PS (cumulative points scored), PA (cumulative points allowed), Dif (points differential -- the difference between points scored and points allowed).

Either the winner or the loser of a match may post the final score here. Screenshots are not necessary. Please include negative numbers. (This score can be found in the lobby, with the loser's score typically being a negative number.)

If at some point during the season you anticipate being unavailable for more than a day or two (aside from Christmas/New Year's), please notify me as far in advance as you can. I am more than willing to double up games so as not to delay the whole division.

In the event that a player unexpectedly stops responding to invitations or games being played and it becomes apparent to me that the player has abandoned the game, that player will either be, a) replaced, if the season is relatively early on, or, b) removed, if it is later in the season. In the event of option (b), all of a player's games will be vacated, including games already played.

Please check in at regular intervals to BGG -- daily, if possible. It would also be good to subscribe to this thread.

At the end of the season, the top 2 players in the lower tiers will be promoted to the next higher tier for the subsequent season. The bottom 3 or 4 players in the higher tiers will be relegated to the next lower tier. (This will be 4 players in the Platinum Tier and 3 players in the Gold and Silver Tiers.) If there is a tie for first place or a relegation spot, the players will have a playoff to determine the winner.

Following is a list of the players in the Silver Tier, Ram Division, in this format: Star Realms username (BGG username).

taalmod 43, PeterQuill -1

With no red ships in the start game, PertQuill opted for blue/yellow, while I went blue/green.

He got a trade ship, while I managed to secure a cutter and embassy yacht.
The trade ship was a thorn in my eye (I wanted it!), erspecially in the round where it placed a battlecruiser on top of his deck.
This called in bad memories from our last game where the same battle cruiser secured him a victory.
Luckily, I ended that round with a base in play and as I had a machine base and an embassy yacht in hand, I got to draw a few extra cards.
I was so focused on what to buy (stealth needle, my preciouss), that it took a while to sink in that I had enough attack points to win.

Thanks for the game and rematch from last season.

It was definitely a fun battle, I love when both players have blue, and the see-saw score between turns, although I must admit some of my blue strategy was purely to keep the blue away from you. GG, and well played!

taalmod 32, GingerMonkey -3

In a game with very little in the way of economics, GingerMonkey went red while I went green.
Things were pretty even until my blob carrier lucked out and got me the command ship with a clean draw pile.
The blob carrier turned up in my hand again after the shuffle and that proved too much for GingerMonkey.

Thanks for the game.
