This expansion pretty much renders the "Secrets of the Past" (recokoning: remove all copies of the current expedition to the box. When all expedition cards on gone, the investigators lose) very toothless.

Now with 9 expedition spaces, it would take 9 reckonings for this rumor to have any dire effect. Which is pretty much impossible.

Wonder if this was intended or overlooked.

You only have 9 expedition spaces when the Antarctica board is in play. Not every game that is played using this expansion will have that board in play. Though you're right, if Antarctica is in play, "Secrets of the Past" is diminished in power.

Am I missing something, or are you? The three new expedition spaces are Rome, Arkham and Sydney, and the rules say nothing about only adding those cards to the Expedition deck when you are using Antarctica.

The rumour obviously still does *something*, as it keeps moving the expedition around, and prevents you from doing them, which can be frustrating. But this change certainly relegates it to the least threatening Rumour in the game. I will consider removing it from my game, especially since we have so many new Mythos cards, and Rumours see the least play.

Least threatening so long as the mystery doesn't require you to search out an artifact... Expeditions are the only near-guarantee of getting one unless you happen to find the puzzle box.

Or possibly just a consequence of adding content and having a single card not mesh fully with the new content— leaves you with the question of whether to skip the new content for one card, or to just not worry about it.

If it's an issue for you, treat all the city spaces as a single expedition space (IE, if the expedition leaves any city space due to the rumor, remove all the Arkham, Rome, and Sydney cards). This leaves you with effectively seven expedition spaces for the card— that's one more than you had, but more than enough, usually, to force you to pay attention to it.
