In the middle of a game it is not possible to require some advice about rules, for instance, because the answer will arrive in a few hours...
What about a Live Help via chat?
The members of BGG could apply to give live help when on-line. Filling a form with the games he could give some advice. So, in the game page it appears with a green or red bullet, if there are some geeks giving advice for that game. If the chat was useful, the petitioner fill a form with a positive or negative assessment. If the assessment was positive, the person who gave the advice wins some geekgold.

Re: Live help
Fantastic idea. I would use that as well as volunteer to help.

Re: Live help

History chat must remain on the game page also, for further consultation

Re: Live help
Well, we're discussing upon just this very 'thang' in the CHAT here, and "wylsonated" brought UP about "rooms" where these folks can conduct this within then. Anyone that would like to request some assistances could then make up a "room" named for the GAME of which they'd like some help with as well. Try it out and see if this 'works' for whatever then some eh?
cool

Re: Live help
That's part of the answer, Grogs. But a bigger part would require that those who want to volunteer to help be able to mark the games they are "experts" in, and when help is needed for a particular game in that user's list, that he be alerted somehow on any BGG page he is viewing (or perhaps some dynamic popup).

I think for almost any top 100 game, there's someone on BGG 24/7 who knows it well.

When you enter to the game page, it appears something like this:

Or this:

In the first case, you can click over the bullet to open a little new window where it appears the list of users on-line given advice for that game (with possible languages). You can choose one of them.

But volunteers need to be alerted even if they are not on a specific game page. There should be a module/box that shows up on any page you are viewing if your help is needed.

After I require the help, I could choose your name...after that, a little pop-up windows (or new tab...for Firefox) appears in your browser requiring your advice...
Furthermore, it would be possible to create a gadget for Google Desktop or for Yahoo...
