The Orange County (CA) Register has a story on the Meetup.com game group.

It is both in print and on line:

Well, three, actually: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/129052

I thought I'd put it where BGG admin would see it.

But two articles have been published (both are linked to the thread above). The first was mostly about Orange County Board Gamers (www.ocbg.net), but the second was more about the hobby and mentioned a couple FLGSs.

Allen, you're taking a little heat about, 'American manufacturers "aren't bringing out interesting games."' I know you mean the major manufacturers.

The others had rolled off the front page by the time I logged in. As Walt has suggested, my comments refered to the major "mass market" games. I actually spent several minutes discussing the co-publishing that RGG, FFG, Mayfair, and others are doing.

The stack of games pictured in the article is mine. All were published or co-published by American companies.

Actually, I was wrong in what I said above: the previous messages were about a previous, more comprehensive article, here:

I had missed the links to that article entirely. More pictures, less text than the Register article.

And a different slant: This article is far more about the Orange Country Board Gamers group than boardgaming in Orange County. It has a link to OCBG, though www.ocbg.net is shorter, and it has the time and location of the next meeting, noon at the El Toro Library on Saturday.
