Episode # 69 of the Dice Tower has been posted!

http://www.boardgamenews.com/index.php/boardgamenews/comment...

Because of the Korean holiday, we weren’t able to get our normal show recorded. But there’s still great stuff! In this episode we have the news from Rick and Moritz, and I review Gifttrap. Most of the show, however, is an interview with Christian Petersen, head of Fantasy Flight Games. We talk about his upcoming games and movie, and more.

No top ten list this week, we'll have one next time!

That thread is really amazing, and makes my stomach churn in empathy.

I had a similar situation happen when I posted a negative review of a review copy of a game. It's very frustrating to have a designer attempt to discredit what you had to say by stating perceptions about who you are or what you support. Most designers aren't like that, thankfully, but it's disturbing when you run into one who is. It creates a hostile, even chilling, environment for a reviewer.

It's fine to critique the comments made; it's not acceptable to attack the author because of who they are. This type of argument is known as Ad Hominem (against the person), and it's a common logical fallacy.

A negative review that has specific details about why the reviewer didn't like it is useful constructive critcism, and a designer can learn from it if they lower their defense enough to listen.
