www.leisuregames.com lists an "Apples to Apples UK Edition" amongst
the new items this week. Is this the same as the earlier UK edition,
with a new box design, or is it a new game?

That's weird. This bit used to mention Shire Games, and tell you all how wonderful we are. But it seems to have got deleted. Let's see what happens this time ....

It's an updates 2006 "British Isles" Edition.

The old UK edition came in an overlarge grey box with about 300 cards.

The new version comes in a very sturdy red box (Days of Wonder sized).

It has over 1000 cards (I think) and costs twice the price of the old one.

The rights to the game have changed hands, so you won't see the old one any more.

Yes ... I thought that.

It's supposed to include the Irish, but it kind of annoys them instead

Actually, it's funny, recently I was in India doing some training and the bit that the Indians were most interested in was when I explained the difference between....

England
UK
Britain
British Isles
GB
Wales
Scotland
etc etc

Boardgameclub have the US complete edition at a bargain price.
http://boardgameclub.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&...
£15.54 for the whole US set is fantastic. Personally I prefer the US edition in terms of the word set. I really didn't like the first UK edition, but I've not seen the latest one. They had names like Norman Wisdom or Bobby Moore in it. I'm sure they're lovely people but come on...

You do have to buy £50 minimum for Boardgameclub but the deliver is only £5 regardless.

anyone knows where I can find the Japanese edition. I looked while I was in Japan but to no avail. I know they had it out for quite a few years.

I have the original edition (and 4 expansions), but I removed all the US-centric cards (mostly American celebrities and sports teams. Although we might generally know that the "New York Yankees" are a baseball??/football?? team, we don't really know what they are famous for, so it's hard to align them with any green cards). Of course, I kept anyone who is famous internationally, like movie stars.

I have added to my edition with tons of custom-made cards - you can buy blank ones that go through the printer at home. Lots of Australian items/places/people. And I like adding weird meta-game cards that change depending on the situation, like "This Room", "The person on my left", "What I did today".

Definitely get the new edition with 1000+ cards, the smaller one (or just the base set) gets familiar quite quickly.
