Hey there, folks.

Episode #14 of The Spiel is now available!

http://www.thespiel.net

Grab your garlic and wooden stakes, we take a trip through Transylvania and find two great games: Vampire Hunter and Dawn Under. Who says the undead are no fun?

* News & Notes: Shogun, spieldeal.net
* The List: Dawn Under, Vampire Hunter
* Backshelf Spotlight: Formula De, Bermuda Triangle
* Truckloads of Goober: I Vant to Bite Your Finger!
* Game Sommelier: Dave must find five games that are also meta-games
for people who hate to follow rules.

As always, thanks for listening!

Have fun,

Stephen

Mortal terror reigned
Sickness now then horrible death
Only lucy knew the truth
And at her window
Nosferatu

Terribly disappointed to see Nosferatu mentioned without Blue Oyster Cult.

Thanks very much, Matthan.

You had a great guess on last episode's Back Shelf Spotlight contest!

Sorry to disappoint, Paul. I can't believe I forgot to include a picture from the original Nosferatu film in the enhanced version of the show.

And I call myself a screenwriter!

Thanks for listening,

Thanks, kilarney, for your words of encouragement!

We've come a long way in a short time, but there are still many ways for the show to grow. As long as we're having fun making the show and you're out there having fun listening, then we're doing it right.

Thanks again for listening.

The only word of caution I would give is that longer does not equal better. There are a lot of podcasts, including gaming podcasts, that run too long. Quality over quantity.

Also, if a segment gets stale, don't be afraid to drop it. I don't want to pick on other podcasts, since I really admire the work that goes into them, but let's just say that it's a great thing if you can recognize when a segment has run its course. (I could get you the "top ten" reasons why, but I won't. )

Here is what it boils down to for me. There is a TON of gaming information that I can get very easily from the internet. New releases, award winners, etc. It's all out there and easy to find. What a podcast can do much better than a website is to take that raw information and turn it into engaging discussion. A podcast can (and should) provide you with information or analysis that isn't so easily accessed on the internet. I think that your show does a great job with that. Raw information isn't entertaining. Taking that information and using it for engaging discussion is what a podcast should be all about. You guys have that figured out.

Lastly, some advice that doesn't apply to your show, but applies to some others that I listen to: Bumpers and other cool audio inserts can be good - but too much can be really distracting. It's a fine line. If it breaks the flow of the show, it's too much.

Besides, you have the coolest theme music for any gaming podcast.

Okay, enough accolades. I don't want your heads to get too big!

Good advice, kilarney.

We'll try to keep it in mind and the show evolves. Glad to have you on board as a listener!

No need to worry about our inflating egos (though your words of encouragement are much appreciated). Most days, we still kind of feel like hacks! We're still learning the ropes and know there are alot of places where we can improve.
