I had never heard of Milton Keynes before these posts. Is the irony lost on the residents that the place shares both the name of Milton Friedman and John Maynard Keynes, the two opposing pillars of 20th century economics?

I'm sure some see the irony, but I must say I'm not one of them.......

I failed my Economics 'O' level, and still find the subject mind-numbingly boring yuk This attitude probably explains a lot to those who know me devil

I find it somewhat ironic that Milton Keynes, an icon of modernity (is that a word, it is now!) in the UK, is twinned with an exceptionally cute 'Olde Worlde' town - Bernkastel - in Germany. Surely there must be someway I can use that to get to Essen free?

Well, you could go there in my suitcase. I'm afraid I can't offer a return ticket though, as I am planning for it to be full of games.

Unfortunately (yeah, right cool ) Essen means I won't be able to make MK this month.

The irony is that the site was originally called Von Hayek Greenspan.

Although MK was a planned town/city built in the 60s, the name was taken from a pre-existing village that has been around for centuries. About 10 different towns and villages were swallowed up when it was built.

Ah ... Milton Keynes ... the land of never ending roundabouts and concrete cows!

... I'm sure there is a game in that somewhere - based upon abstract artists populating the town with bizaare concept art whilst!!

Suggest you nip over to Windsor and pass the idea onto to Knizia!!

Hmmmm, because of Milton Keynes' grid system I suspect we'd end up with Kingdoms combined with Modern Art - you'd have to bid to place your galleries at strategic intersections, and the view either way would affect your visitors (scores). This sounds viable to me, I'll have to try and sell it to the Development Corporation

Stuart and I have just been informed that The Point has changed hands and we will no longer be able to use it. We are obviously deeply unhappy at getting less than two weeks notice, but there is nothing we can do about it.

The only other hall in central MK is already booked every Saturday, so no joy there. This means our options are:

1) Move further out in Milton Keynes, losing access to the Town Centre, and possibly any shops, especially those supplying food. Also harder to access for those without cars.

2) Move to Leighton Buzzard. Depending on venue would still have access to shops and a railway station.

3) Move to Toddington. Would still have access to a limited number of shops that sell food, (+ lots of pubs), but access by public transport very limited. It’s possible we could arrange to collect people from Leighton Buzzard station if arranged in advance.

Stuart and I are contacting as many halls as possible to get details of prices and availability, but we need your feedback URGENTLY.

Please let us know now if any of the above options are preferable to you. If any are impossible for you, and if you have any contact details for halls we could you use please pass them on.

You can imagine how disappointed we are by this turn of events, especially with our first birthday party planned. We want to try and make sure we keep going and that as many of you as possible can still attend.

Richard & Stuart
