Developing an exploration game and I'm looking for some good ship bits like Sid meir's Civ "Medieval" Ships. Looking for something 1450-1600 AD ish that can fit on a 1-1.5 inch hex. I'm aware of the spielmaterial.de catan ships but I want something more appealing.

I'd be game for...

plastic
wood
metal minis

If anyone has any extra/salvaged Civ ships I'll buy them off of you.

Thanks!

Have you contacted Kieth Blume? He had some Civ-type frigates he was selling...they may have been from another game, I don't know.

You know this looks like a good place to post another question:

I was looking for some small ships (2" x 3") to use for Puerto Rico. Preferably of wood so that I can drill out holes for the goods.

Can anyone think of something that would work for this that is not too expensive?

The ships in Viktory would probably work. You'd get the other units in the package, but just the components are available without buying the full game. http://www.viktorygame.com/components.htm

You didn't hijack the theme at all. It looks like I can actually buy the boats from Civ the Boardgame. Great! If you're gonna playtest a game, you want it to look good: even if its just close friends.
Now to find some help with graphics for simple terrain hexes.

Well, for that I use Campaign Cartographer, but it's a little pricey. However, it's got GREAT textures!

Low-res, but it shows you the general idea.

I agree about prototype quality; the better the proto, the more involved and useful the playtest session, in my experience.

So CC2 is about 40$ US? CC2 has the hexes right? Might just be worth it. All these years using GIS and this is what I needed.
