Spain map is the latest prototype map from the Steambrothers. Marc-Andre, Martin, Nathalie and Pierre were ready to try it to finish the evening. The main new rules concerns the difference of gauge between Spain and the rest of Europe and ther is one new action called insurrection. There is also a nice new rule in which this game is played in team of 2 players. So we expect some nice talks around the table !

For this game the teams were: Nathalie/Marc-Andre and the Pierre/Martin. Martin began the game in the southeast, Marc Andre also began in this region, Nathalie started in the southeast and Pierre in the north near the border of France. There was action very soon when Marc-Andre blocked Martin tentative to make a nice loop. This start the hostility between the 3 players in the east and Pierre and Martin tried to block Marc-André and forced him to stay on the eastern shore. On turn 4 Marc-Andre was on the verge of connecting Marseilles but Martin builded early and force Marc to place more track and pay more to connect France. Early players builded near the shore because the costs were lower than in the central region around Madrid and near the Pyrenee mountains. Marc Andre and Nathalie had the first places for the betting round for most of the games and they use nice strategy to force Pierre and martin to step down of the bets. On turn 5 Pierre and Martin were able to complete their nice loops and seemed to have an advantage over Marc and Nathalie because their networks were very close. Then there was a nice turnaround when Marc Andre choose insurrection action and then Nathalie had the loco action and she was able to make nice delivery of 5 or 6 until the end of the game. Marc Andre had a tough game because Pierre and Martin were putting most of their enrgy on stealing his goods and block him from connecting his network to Nathalie. We were not sure who was winning in the end and we had to give many income to our fellow players and sometime to the other team to make nice deliveries.

The Steambrothers team finally won the game and Pierre was the overall winner. The players appreciated their experience and no major changes was made to the maps or the rules. The discussions around the table were very different from the other games we usually have at Age of Steam. We'll have to play it many times again but from a first game it has a good potential to be in a future expansion kit from The Steambrothers.

Final scoring:
1st team: Steambrothers (Martin and Pierre)
2nd team: Axis (Nathalie and Marc-André)

1st place: Pierre
2nd place: Nathalie
3rd place: Marc-André
4th place: Martin

Hi Mario
We'll give more details about this map in the following weeks. We're working on a future expansion kit from the Steambrothers and this map could be included.

Thanks for you interest
