Image 2 looks like something from an old Civilization game.

Image 1 all the way!

Definitely the first one. It has a more, well, epic feel to it.

It's not that I dislike the second image, but I personally feel the inside art should be a bit more subdued. Plus the second one just looks like a repeat of part of the cover. I know that it is different, but it has the same ship on it, and I like the variety offered by the first one.

While Image 2 is a nice eye-catcher and would work better for cover art, Image 2 nicely the screen without also demanding me to think about it. It's the one that when I open the box will make my friends say "It's bigger on the inside." (Which is obviously the only way to fit so much game in so few inches...)

EDIT: Clarity.

Totally Image One. The cover of the box already has the ship on it. Plus image one is just so mysterious and gives me that sense of potential for space exploration.

Not that I would be too put off by either, but image one has a grandeur that image two lacks (IMO).

Pretty excited for this game regardless though - very very happy that all the cards will have rounded edges! (and hopefully the same will be done for future TE games)

Image two is too similar to the box art, imo. Image one has that epic and unknown space feel to it.

Image one is at least 20% cooler than image two.

Image 1 suggests the limitless possibilities of space exploration. It's austere, bright, and (I use the word specifically) Epic.

Image 2 is nice, but it fels cartoon-y. It looks like the planet is wearing a hat and you're about to blast off in the crappiest rocket imaginable.

The ship in image 2 is the same ship on the box cover, which is why I voted for image 1.

Image one has that real space-y feeling to it.

Image two feels a little too cartoony.

#1 all the way.

I like image 2 best, but I don't really care about the inside of the box lid if I am honest. Happy to see either, both or none!

Yeah, I don't think we need another launch shot. Let's get an image of the wide expanse into which those cover rockets are launching!

Image 1 is just vast open space.
Image 2 is more tiny/epic.

Actually, I was happy with the box lid, and I'm not that bothered what image is inside...they all look great.
Can we get back to the game content now please?

Image #2 would probably better fit for the cover. Regardless, I voted it as the first is very generic space-theme. That could be for any space-themed game.

For being inside the box, I think #1 has closer to an "inside looking out" feel to it. #2 would look nice on the outside, but when you think about the act of opening the box, and what you see first, I think the first one would feel better.

If you'd like to send me an early copy, I can test that theory devil devil

Sigh. I wanted Image 2 with the ship for the box cover.

That being said, either one works for the inside for me.

Can we have another option for "None"? Nothing against the artwork but personally I don't see the point in having artwork inside the box and would prefer that my money be spent on improving other components that are used in the actual game play. Sorry if that is an unpopular opinion.

I voted for #2. It's more associated with the game and I don't find it particularly cartoony. It's like a progression .. on the outside, you see it blasting off and on the inside you see it with the planet behind it.

Let's all be entirely honest. When you eagerly open the box , hands up how many are looking at the inside of the lid.....
..
...
anyone?..
..
...
anyone?

Now hands up how many are pulling out the pieces to see what goodies are there...

I've just checked my copy of TEK to check my theory... hang on...I never knew there was an image there, I swear!!

Image 1 is amazing and part of the reason I was pushed over the edge to back this as my first Kickstarter project. I was hoping for it in a PDF art file or even a print.
