Woo-Hoo!

Drew, I'd be happy to teach you, especially since you trudged through Reef with me. But we need to find 3 other players...

I created a game, and new players are welcome:

Name: LearningGeeks
Password: aldie

(I've used the beginners setup even though I've played a few times before in person so that anyone can feel free to join)

Thanks Ryan!

Well the real thanks go to Michael, Myke and I just dusted off his code and got it ready for release. Most of the work was already done.

With Palm Trees galore too. Ryan and Myke and Mikael rock.

BTW, anyone who wants to learn the game just read a half a page PDF Quick Reference Guide
http://www.boardgamegeek.com/fileinfo.php?fileid=19531

Here's a quick overview for a 5 player game of Santiago.

Everyone starts with $10 and you get $3 at the end of each of the 9 rounds. 5 plantation tiles get flipped up face up.First people bid for plantations (no one can bid the same amount) or you can pass. 1st to pass becomes Canal Overseer. Starting with highest bidder, the 2nd highest and so forth they get to put a plantation with the number of workers (either 1 or 2 as indicated on the plantation tile). If you passed then you place 1 less worker.

Ok now people start bribing the Canal Overseer (CO) proposing a canal flow this way from the Spring or from another canal. If the CO accepts he takes your money and your plantation is watered. Players can support other existing bribes or propose their own. If your plantation wasn't watered then you get a chance to place an extra canal (each player has 1 per game).

Drying phase occurs and each plantation that isn't watered loses one worker and if there are no workers on the plantation it's dried up.

Then income phase occurs $3 given to each player. OK so how do you win? You get income based on # of workers times # of plantations. Example say you have 3 workers on watered banana plantations that are adjacent to each other then you get (3 workers x 5 banana plantations = $15). Anyway everyone calulates their income and adds it to their existing money in their hand. Player with most money wins.

It's kind of hidden but SBW is currently accepting donations, just to cover actual expenses. Folks should visit http://www.spielbyweb.com/donate.php ...

I'd love to learn Santiago, Amun Re, or Hacienda if anyone is willing to teach. All the games I see at the moment are password protected. I don't see the games mentioned earlier in this post.

The ones you saw earlier seem to have started. I would recommend just starting your own game, and post the passwords here on the geek or in the SBW forum. People will join up, just make note that they are learning games. They will fill up quickly.

I joined your Hacienda game. If you want to create a Santiago or Amun Re game, I could teach you those games. I probably know those better than Hacienda, which I've lost miserably every time I've played.

There must be something I don't understand. Why put a password on the games you create if you're just going to post the password to whomever sees it? Why not just leave the password blank?

I created a santiago game called "oat gains" with no password and I sure hope people will join it.

No biggie really. If people go to the trouble of finding games on BGG, perhaps they will be more active players. That's all.

Most of the games I create have no password. Some folks though prefer a password trying to weed out those who may abandon a game (I've had that happen several times).
