I'm trying to remember the name of a game we played a long time ago. I'm hoping you can help.

It was a 4 player wargame. I think the setting was Medieval or perhaps Renaissance. Somewhere in there. Area map with large areas. The four powers were France, England, Italy and Germany. Low counter density. This would have been late 80's or early 90's when we played, and around the time I think it was published.

Does that ring a bell with anyone?

We only played it once, and I don't remember us liking it, but I was trying to remember what it was and it was bugging me.

UPDATE: Thanks folks, it's Blood Royale!

No, I'm quite familiar with Kingmaker. Also, there's no Italy or Germany in Kingmaker.

I've updated the description a bit. The areas were large.

Blood Royale perhaps? It was a neat game from Games Workshop, back when they used to actually publish, you know, games!

No England in Machiavelli (and only the southernmost bit of France and I think Austria; neither France nor Germany were represented by players).

That would be my bet.
