Cool Fall weather finally arrived in Lincoln as we gathered for week 7 of the Lincoln Blood Bowl League. The third ranked Demon Princes (High Elves) were facing the fifth ranked Tzeentch Tzilches (Chaos).

The Elves received the kickoff and elected to pursue a right side flood strategy. To start it off they attempted a block on the right side. Double skulls turned the ball over. The Chaos crashed in and got a tackle zone on the still loose ball. Turn 2 and the Elves again turned over on the first attempt to use a player. Chaos pick up the ball and prepare to score. Turn 3 and the Elves are still in their starting positions except for the knocked out blitzer. Chaos go up 1 to 0 with the Elves putting up no showing.

The second drive worked a little better as the Elves dice could now do no wrong. A lucky timed pow opened up the field and the score was tied at the end of turn 6 with one casualty for the Elves. The Chaos managed to seriously mangle the Journeyman Elf and take the Elves down to 10 for the remainder of the game.

The third drive stalled out for the Chaos so we go to halftime tied 1-1.

Kicking to the Chaos with 10 defenders left the middle open somewhat. The Chaos responded by pounding down the center with a few well executed cages. On turn 3 they score after a nice strip ball move that left the ball on the pitch but out of the hands of the Elves. Being up 2-1 with 5 turns to go the Chaos sense victory. It doesn't hurt that they have killed another lineman.

Fielding only nine players the Elves know they must score quickly to have a chance. Since they have gone right 3 times the Elves choose to cage up on the left side of the pitch this drive. The Chaos commit nearly everything to disrupting the cage and get the ball loose. It takes a perfect bounce for the elves into the center of the cage. Then the speed of the Elf team shows itself as the ball is moved clear over to the right side and deep into Chaos territory. Despite a nice blitz the Elves tie it up on turn 5. Unfortunately they lose another Elf to death, this time a Catcher.

The Chaos victory, seemingly a foregone conclusion at this point, is interrupted by the end of the game as a riot breaks out.

With no overtime it is another tie for the Elves.

Overall the new ruleset seems to promote quite a few more ties and a bit bloodier game overall as the death toll is higher than I have ever seen in the 18 years I have been playing Blood Bowl.

Only 2 weeks until the Tournament!
