I just realized that my cell phone will access the Internet, but the regular BGG homepage locks up the whole thing. Is there a version of the Geek that's browsable by cell phone?

Thanks!

You can search for games and get a stripped-down version of a game's page through Matt Gray's portal:
http://server.boardgamestuff.com:8000/cgi/bgg

This is not an "official" BGG portal, I guess, but Matt (mkgray) is an admin here. It works well and I've been grateful for it on more than one occasion.

Oh that's very cool! When I had a Blackberry had my work over the summer I was sad to see how difficult it was to use BGG on it, not to say that I didn't try. I was actually amazed at how few websites really work well on a Blackberry, even mainstream commercial ones, only a handful had designed scaled down versions specifically for the Blackberry (like ESPN and Gmail for example). Anyway, since I'll be chained to a Blackberry again after this year, I'd love a scaled down version of BGG for commutes/meetings/etc, but Matt Gray's will certainly do for the time being!

That IS nice. I wish it could port over information like rules questions and such; when I would need to check the Geek over the phone, it would probably be to answer a question about play.

Thanks!

I use Matt's portal when I'm browsing my FLGS. If a game is in the top 500, I've got its basic stats in a database on my Treo. If not, or if I need more detail than my database contains, it's off to the portal. Wonderful!

I should mention that the stats in my Treo were collected largely via another of Matt's alternative portals: his XML API.
