We played a China map game last night for the first time. We had a great game. (My opinion might be slightly biased given that I won. )
One rules question came up that we didn't have an answer for though. There are several towns on the China map that are in hexes with rivers. (Wahan and Nanking are two. This does not exist in the base map.)
How much does it cost to build into one of these towns?
The "town" cost would be $1+$1/spur out of the town. The "river" cost would be $3. We voted and chose to just follow the town rule and ignore the presence of the river, and there were a couple of cases where this saved someone a little money. What do other people do? Pierre/Martin, if you are listening, what did you intend?
You played correctly. As on other maps like Scandinavia you follow the basic town rule and ignore the presence of rivers or other terrain.
