Is this a limited print run?

Is it only available in Germany?

Is it likely to be picked up from an English company?

How language neutral is it?

I don't know about most of those questions but as far as language neutral, from the pics of it it looks like it is:

i'm enormously interested in this game, mostly for the sand timer mechanism and SF theme... but damn, that picture makes it look like a huge tablespace consumer. not sure if it would fit on my table, especially if all players end up with a setup that size.

Well, Funagain says: "This item has been announced, but is not yet available. As soon as it's available you'll be able to purchase it right here."

I'm also keenly interested in this one as well thanks to the BGN article. Looks fascinating.

The game includes English rules, can't speak about the quality as I haven't looked at them yet. The names of the cards are the only text in the game and they're in German, but they're all technical terms that are very similar to the respective English terms and thus easily understandable.

It is. Each player will have a setup of that size at the end of the game, and you need enough free space around the track to place the ships as well. Buying two copies of Space Dealer would allow to play with up to 8 players, but where the heck should I do that?

This was very high on my "must have" list for its uniqueness. And originally it's bits were what drew me to it originally, but now I'm wondering if it's not a bit too fiddly -- there's bunches of cards, interconnecting pieces, and bits everywhere without an actual board. Any opinions yet out there?

Try to watch the 12 MB video, where the game is explained (it’s in German, but you’ll probably get an overview).

IMO, the game works rather well. It can be hectic while you try to decide what action to take next while watching your sand timer run down.

Hectic really isn't a bad thing though.

My only beef with the game is the art. I don't personally care for it and I had trouble seeing some of the colors. That could mostly be due to being tired and the flowing cloud of cigarette smoke in the building.

I didn't buy it for some reason and I am kicking myself for it.

The game does come with both English and German rules. Both rules seem sort of obtuse (my game was a mix of English and German players).

Obtuse or abstruse?

Anyhow, I was --><-- this close to ordering it from Eggertspeileleisels (or however you spell it, I'm a little obtuse). Buuuttt... it it will soon be available here, I don't want to have it sent to my friend in Germany to bring it for Christmas. OI!

More information, Please! Eggertspeielelee, please weigh in!

Define "limited"... :-).

The run was a few thousand, so it's not that limited, but it could still sell out - especially given how quickly it was selling at Essen.

sbabcock wrote:

It is a joint run by Eggertspiele and JKLM Games Ltd. Hence JKLM will be distributing it in the UK and US.

There are two rules books, one in English, one in German. The cards are in German, but use words that are obvious (e.g. Mine, MineKomplex, FusionsReaktor"), and most of the cards are obvious what they do from the symbols on the cards without looking at the text anyway.

I've played it on a table that is tight for space for games like Antike or Imperial, and it fitted without too much difficulty.

It's never been a problem when I've played it - the smallest bits are the cubes, and they're a fairly large size - about the same size as the commodity barrels in Puerto Rico. And the cubes are always either in the central circle, or on a card or a ship.

The only thing I'd say is, don't play it with drinks on the table, etc :-).

David.

This looks like a game I'd love to own and play and so I hope I don't sound like I'm nagging (I just don't want to miss out on the small publishing run). WIth that in mind any word on getting an US retailer (so should I order from across the pond)?

Both FUNAGAIN and BOULDER GAMES report that Space Dealer will be in their stores at some point, but it is not yet available to pre-order . . . nor is there any information as to when it will be there.

Sorry. The NA means not available anymore, but check every day because I saw the game on the shelves on the 20 dec.
For the shiping cost, dunno because I live in Montreal and go directly.

Opps, sorry for the confusion... I was curios what they were charging for the game (because the price is no longer listed) itself, not for the shipping.
