I'm looking for some recommendations on any games that have a western theme to them. Wild west, gun fights, etc..

What is your favorite Western Themed game?

Dark Horse would be mine. I have tried a few others, but I really havent found the one game that scratches that itch, this one comes the closest for me.

If you're a wargamer, Gunslinger. If you want something lighter, but still built around gunfights, Cowboys: The Way of the Gun. If you're a euro type, Carson City. If you're a die-hard Marin Wallace junky, Way Out West.

This is like my favorite theme, and there are a lot of games that fall into that category. The following games are ones I would say have a western theme:

Carson City
Deadwood
Wyatt Earp
Longhorn
Dice Town
Desperados of Dice Town
Pony Express
Doomtown: Reloaded
BANG!
BANG! The Dice Game
Revolver
Revolver 2: Last Stand at Malpaso
Homesteaders
Spurs: A Tale in the Old West

If you are looking for gun fight theme, I would recommend, Carson City (Worker Placement), Deadwood (Worker Placement), Revolver (2p Asymmetrical Card Game), Bang/Bang Dice (Party Game), Doomtown (LCG), and Spurs (Sand box game). They all have very different game mechanics though, so it depends what kind of games you like.

(Edit: added in key game mechanics)

It never really gained traction, and was kind of unique with players choosing to be settlers or native americans, and having different play parameters for each.

Gunslinger, Gunslinger, a million times Gunslinger.
If you can't find a copy, my recommendation would then be Gunslinger.

Thanks for all the recommendations of Western theme games. There isn't that many games with the wild west theme which is sad because it was such a great time in history. Game designers need to make more great western games in the future.

Well after consulting with Tom Vasel and watching all the reviews of all the games that you guys have suggested. Two of the games really caught my attention.

Spurs: A Tale in the Old West
BANG! The Dice Game

Thanks for all the feedback and lets hope in the future there is more western theme games

Revolver and Carson City were mentioned already.

I would add Desperados to the list.

Also if you look for a light and fun game with a western theme, you could tre Pony Express.

I seem to recall a book by Stephen King of the same name.

The first book in the Dark Tower Cyclus (total of 7 books) is called The Gunslinger.
