I'm very happy to see this expansion:

http://www.gmtgames.com/p-528-labyrinth-ii-the-awakening-201...

Do others feel the same? Auto pre-order for me.

"includes full solitaire system"

I guess I didn't need to spend yesterday making mine! Incredible timing. P500 for me too.

Yes* this is an auto pre-order! (Actually, already done!)

* I am sure this is going to be great, and I mean it's Labyrinth so of course I'm in, but this would be an unqualified YES!!! if Volko was the designer. There are so many great things about this game, but one of the best was the ideological consistency of the deck. Everything just made sense and worked together so well. I am glad to see Joel Toppen on there as developer, though.

Also, Aaron, I'm not sure your time was wasted. From the GMT website, "The LABYRINTH II expansion uses the same map, base rules, victory conditions, components, charts, and solitaire rules from its predecessor game" so I'm not sure it actually adds a US bot.

Wow, is life just too weird, sometimes, or what? Aaron, I certainly didn't see anything in there about a US flow chart. It would be nice to see confirmation of that, either way.

Yeah, hard to say from that quote and the "full solitaire." Feel bad asking for playtesters but perhaps it will tide us over until Labyrinth II prints.

Will be interesting to see how the expansion treats the Middle East situation now.

One of the cards I'm looking forward to seeing is 'Snowden'. Don't see how it has an affect on this game. Don't see it affecting troops or governance. Don't see it affecting Posture for anyone other than maybe Spain and Germany (Most EU countries are just as clandestine with data retrieval). Maybe it affects US Prestige?

Also wonder if the expansion will explore external interference with Syria and the emergence of ISIS.

It kinda feels early for an expansion. Don't think the Western and Middle Eastern agendas have been revealed yet and are in the early stages of being played out.

Again, I don't see where they'll go with this. It's still not clear if they had anything really to do with global Muslim extremism or if the attack was a French, North African colonial issue.
Wonder where the game will go with it.

RE Edit: However it's brave by GMT to explore this. So many people are currently involved in these events. Could be sensitive for so many. Doesn't have the emotional distance that older conflicts have(imo).

This expansion has 2010-? (rather than 2001-? in the base game) in the title so I would expect some new cards/rules around events that have happened since the base game was released.

Response from Volko:

Quote:
I believe that solitaire will still be only as the US side. I am adding designer Trevor Bender and developer Joel Toppen to addressees to give you the definitive answer. Thanks for the interest! Volko

Still awaiting absolutely official once-and-for-all confirmation but it looks like solo is still US only.

Yep it's official - from the designer of the expansion

Quote:
Right now the intention is to follow the LABYRINTH model and only play the US side Solitaire. We will correct that on the P500 page and the banner add during the next update. Trevor

Cheers.
