If you haven't seen Regis & Kelly today, watch it! My wife won a trip for us to Jamaica. She'll be on the air.

Wow! How the heck she pull that off?

If she hasn't been on yet, see if you can get in touch with her and tell her to kick Regis for me...

She signs up for the contest every day (which you have to do in order to be picked). She won a trip for us to Canada four years ago on the same show. When they call, they ask you something about the previous day's guest. Since she watches every day, the questions are not very difficult for her.

She works as a writer and editor at home, and continues getting productive work done while watching her shows. She and I are total opposites that way. I need a fairly quiet office to get work done.

Congratulations! Do the kids get to come along? Looks like a great family place.

Now that your wife has won a trip to Jamaica, the 50 GG I won in a geeklist caption contest doesn't seem very impressive anymore.

Excellent. When we went to Cozumel earlier this year, I put together a collection of games that would fit into one large ziplock baggie: a deck of cards, Battleline, Blue Moon (using no board and Battleline pawns for the dragons), Mystery Rummy: Jack the Ripper, and Citadels. We left the game boxes at home. We don't have kids though, so I imagine your game selection will have to be different. Then again, you might be spending all your time on those water slides in the picture. Have fun!

My wife went to the Caribbean.

Jamaica?

No, she went of her own accord. I thank you.

Congratulations.

Not to be a downer, but as you might know, prizes such as this are taxable as income. If the network doesn't send you an 1099 form at the end of the year for the value of the trip, you will want to request one from them. If you don't get one at all, you should still report the fair value of it on your income tax return, because, as Richard Hatch learned, when it is easy to trace that you have won a major prize because everyone saw you win it on television, then it's quite hard to dodge claiming it on your taxes.

WOW. Great job! That's too cool! I have a friend who sat in an SUV at a Saturn dealer next year and pushed the onstar button and he won the car! I know how excited you all must be. Congrats!
