To those interested, the french site Tric-trac.net has an "open the box" video about Battlelore. It's really what the title says: you see a guy opening the Battlelore box and showing ALL components to camera!

Here is the link:

http://www.trictrac.net/index.php3?id=tv&inf=tv_flash&ref=56

In case this link fails:

http://www.trictrac.net/index.php3?id=jeux&rub=actualite&inf...

and click on "Cliquez ici!" link.

I'm not sure what is more disturbing: the fact that it is so... disturbing, or the fact that I couldn't stop watching it because I wanted to know what was in that box!

I just don't believe that 210 miniatures fit into the 2 plastic cases... It seems so small to contain this huge amount of plastic

On the flip side the packaging look great and especially: it looks reusable! So after playing a game everything fit in the box (not like heroscape).

Yeah, but the miniatures look really small, no wonder they fit in the box.

And I don't feel to put 210 miniatures back in their specific spot in the packaging after each game.

After watching this movie I am convinced that in Heroscape, the bits are way more fun.

This guy is my new heroe! That must have been the funniest game presentation that I have ever seen! And I think it was as informative as any box-opening-video could be. Give Mon. Phal a Boardgamegeek Oscar !
I second the motion for the older vids.laugh

Also links to Descent, Can't Stop and Ave Caesar on the page.

Enjoy!

Update: if I'm not mistaken, these videos and BattleLore are the whole list.

No more than a quarter of the way through, when he first opened up the board, it looked to me like the reverse side had a long orientation as an alternative to the standard wide battlefield. The places to put your victory medals/banners were along the short ends of the board. Did anyone else see that? Or am I imagining things?

I'm not so sure I want to play the scenario he set up. The board looked messy and it only involved about five figures...

Otherwise, great preview!

I don't think he was actually playing a scenario, I think he was just horsing around.

You're right. I heard an interview with Eric Hautemont where he said they did that to support connecting two boards from two sets along the long edge, similar to the Overlord scenarios in Memoir '44 only getting a more square play area rather than a linear wide one.
We'll have to wait and see what scenarios they come up with for that configuration.

I have to add my name to the list of people now sold on the game after this presentation.

Anybody know the French for "Pass the Valium?"

He's probably just excited to own "Battlelore."

DoW has indicated that the figures are 20mm size. In miniature wargaming scale, that's about 1/76, like the old Airfix "HO/OO" plastic figures. This seems a good "compromise" scale to permit the use of "larger than human" creatures down the road without spilling out of the hexes. It might even permit an in-scale war elephant with a couple of guys in the howdah.

I'm looking forward to playing with the large "square" area featuring more depth in large Battlelore (what will they call such scenarios, "Epic Battlelore?") scenarios. More room for retreats and pursuits, reserves, etc.

I hope the US shipments get out before the holiday shipping clog hits.
