I know it would be nice to have, but I really hope they don't waste one of their high-bar stretch goals on plastic bits, when they need lots more tiles (which are small to begin with) and ghosts to fight (Boogeyman? Ghash? Samhain? Librarian? Vigo? more minion level ghosts?). Everything is already upgraded except for the stream tokens and slime tokens. I will be replacing the stream tokens with swizzle sticks, cut into pieces, and flat green marbles for slime.

And this link is just for show, because you can get a bag of glass gems at a dollar store or under $5 at a craft store:

Keep in mind the squares are about 1.375" which will be taken up by miniatures base. The purpose of a flat token either acrylic, MDF or board is so it can be under the miniature or share the same space without spilling into the other squares. As miniatures start to cluster it can get a bit messy if they don't all fit with the miniature they are attached too.

The game is designed to play in 30-60 minutes, be fun and streamlined. There is nothing stopping anyone from adding extra tiles but all the scenarios are based on the tiles provided. It is after-all a board game not a miniatures or dungeon crawl game. It really doesn't need extra tiles. Although a group of us have already started to modify rules so this can be played without a board, on terrain so players can create their own mini-cities to play within.

Upgrading base components of a game isn't actually a waste, especially if those base components replace retail components. If they are Add-On SGs then that would be considered a waste though. Originally that was what SGs were meant to be used for, upgrades for the base game not simply "Give me free stuff".
