Updated art just for the cover or the tiles as well?

Not sure, but my guess is yes because that's what they did with the original Carcassonne.

Damn! If the new art is better, I may just have to buy the game again. This is the very best of the Carcassonne games.

I'm not planning on replacing my old copy, but I am interested to see if they'll change any rules. There was much hoopla surrounding "overpowered" tiles in the original.

There must have been a moment at the beginning, where we could have said no. Somehow we missed it. Well, we'll know better next time.

And, I hope they clarify this rule question that's been debated for 10 years:
What if you complete 2 forrests at once?

Super excited about getting to own a copy at a reasonable price, and about the art revamp!

Awful realistic, mainstream cover! surprisegulpyuksoblueshake

Glad I have my first edition copy.

Saint Petersburg, Carcassonne and now this zombie

I hope they'll not change the wonderful art tile by Johann Rüttinger. wowcry

I sent Z-Man a question:

Hello, would you please advise if I will be able to play this as the original H&G rules from the older edition? I understand there may be a few new improvements, but I wanted to know if I could still play the "old way."

And the response was:

Hi Joe,
From what I can see in the rules, they seem to be exactly the same. Other than a few corrections for better understanding, there seems to be no changes in gameplay.

it looks like the tile art remains the same.

Bummer.

The one thing that could use a facelift. The art is hard to distinguish between some features. I learned this version on the electronic version of the game and they upgraded the tile art there, which was really distinctive. I was disappointed when I got the physical copy.

Interesting, I'd like to see that!
Which electronic version is that? yucata.de, brettspielwelt and the Vassal module seem to use the same tile art as the physical copy.

It was Koch Media. It has been several years ago and not sure I still have it to capture a screen shot.

I don't recall what was different. I think the nuggets or icons were different so they stood out more. Possibly a slightly different color scheme.

It's been about 10 years since I played so I don't recall if that is the image or not. But the pic is almost 10 years old as well so maybe that is what was different.

It is possible I had an older version as it "fell off the back of a truck" from a friend who was trying to get me into this "tile game" and sent me a burned CD.

Great!

Now the changed Jurassic Park cover is inconsistent with the tile art. Happy I have the edition that has the cover and art from the same artist.

I'm glad I sold mine for $139 on Amazon. Now I can just buy it again if I ever decide to.
