On one of the other forums, someone posted a link to a model of the Ghost from Rebels that is a cake topper. I had been tempted by Mel's but couldn't justify the price for a ship that will probably eventually be released by FFG.

The website picture doesn't look like it had much detail but for 12 bucks with shipping it seemed like it was worth the gamble. Especially when you gaming buddy is a young Rebels fan who is in love with the Ghost and Phantom.

It is a little small for 1/270 but passable, and the detail was actually better than expected. Panel lines were molded but needed blacklined to show up. It is a small amount of color painted onto a shiny gray plastic with black engines.

Then I smeared and wiped a wash on it to dirty it up a bit followed by a dull coat.

I have more to do to finish it but it has already had two fights.

Wow, that looks pretty good considering it was a cake decoration!

Nice work

Hah - you ain't kidding! That's not half bad looking - your paint job helps a bunch, but what a surprising find!

Ha ha when I read the title of this thread, I thought it was some super-tournament level ship list, like Fat Han-Double Dip or Cake Topper Phantom Vader or something.

What I found was much better!

The size looks pretty accurate though... The Scum large ship (forgot its name) looks to be significantly smaller than that.

I just ordered me one of these. It'll be fun to dress up a bit and repaint.

Are you just running it as "Outer Rim Smuggler" or have you come with custom stats for the Ghost?

I was using the Falcon cards at the moment.

But plan to print these out and give them a spin.

Thanks for the compliments. Most of the paint job is the original. I blacklined it with a XS Faber-Caster Pitt artist pen. Then hit it with a Secret Weapon soft body wash. The wash was tough though, the gray is the gray plastic and it was really smooth. I thought it would be great at letting the wash run into the details. But it had problems with puddling and beading up on the flat surfaces. I had to put it on and then smear it with a paper towel until it looked OK. The wash is uneven and I will do some more to it when I get the chance. Looks better in person but when you blow it up on the pics you can see it.
