Hey, I'm new here so apologies if this is in the wrong place.

So i am currently co-designing a board game called "Fate - Spirit Of The Island" which i plan to share on here once i have the artwork for the prototype finished.

Part of my plan is to film a play through of the prototype with a few of my charismatic friends in a "table top" style video, as i am also a film maker. I thought a good way of getting some valued opinions would be if people saw it played in all its glory!

This got me thinking, is there already an established youtube channel that play tests new games/prototypes? If not is it something you think you might be interested in watching?

For designers it could be a good and simple way of getting opinions and advice on their games, and also find out if the people watching think it looks fun and can't wait to play!

Obviously this will only work if the show is engaging and well put together.

Im going to make one for my game and if that goes down well, and some designers want me to play their games, then maybe this could be a fun project

let me know what you think

This sounds like a really good idea. There's nothing similar on YouTube that I'm aware of at the moment. I'd definitely be interested in seeing something like this develop.

By the way, I really like the name of your game

You should do some research and try it out - maybe you've found a niche!

I don't believe this series is continuing at all, but it sounded like a great idea. So, no, nothing is new under the sun, but the demand is still there for such a series.

Sounds like i should give it a go! the quality of the video would be considerably higher than that video so hopefully it might get a little more reach

Shameless plug:

A couple of friends of mine are starting up a series on YouTube called "Just Got Played", where they take an established game and play though it at a local gaming pub, and then create a video afterwards of them talking about their reactions to the game.

It's rather amateur-ish at the moment, as they're still getting the basics like lighting and noise worked out. But that will improve. Also, at the moment they're only evaluating published games, but they want to branch off into prototypes and works in progress. Now if they could just set up a YouTube channel...
