Dear Merchants! Welcome to my castle. I'm Prince John and this is my land.
As you know we live in dangerous times. And as such, for our own good, we need to take some measures to ensure our safety and well being.
Say hello to my Sheriff. He is in charge of making sure, that none of the Illegal Goods are distributed around. And don't even think about bringing any of the Royal Goods. That's a big no-no, as those belong to me!
So, grab your Merchant Bags and enjoy your stay.

Re: Sheriff of Nottingham PBF#1
Rules:
We'll be playing according to official rules (Sheriff of Nottingham - English Rules) with some modifications, to make PBF experience go smoothly. Please make sure you read and understand the official rules.

General:
1. Roleplaying is highly encouraged. For the purpose of this PBF, you can call me Prince John.
2. There is no rule #2.
3. There will be 24h deadline for every action (excluding weekends).
4. No game-related discussion is allowed outside the thread until the game is completed. This includes GMs between players and posts in other threads. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to ask me in a GM.
5. Editing of posts is discouraged, and is usually allowed only in the first few minutes to fix typographical or formatting errors. If you edit a post, please include an addendum to indicate the reason for the edit. e.g. Edit: Fixed a typo.
6. No dice have been provided to you. You may not use the Geekroller in this thread.
7. Please subscribe to the thread and check in at least daily (exceptions for weekends).
8. Submission changes rule: You can change a submitted action any number of times, but as soon as I receive the card from the last player, no more changes are allowed, even if I'm not there to post the results yet. If you made changes after all the cards were in, I'll tell you which submitted card was the final one.
9. I welcome messages from players explaining your thoughts/guesses/feelings as the game progresses. I may not always respond (so as to avoid giving out privileged information) but I would enjoy reading anything you might send!
10. Remember everyone is here to have fun! Bullying, cursing, and other poor conduct is frowned upon.

Setup:
1. 10 random cards will be removed from the deck.
2. We will be playing with Royal Goods.
3. There'll be no Promos included, unless you explicitly ask for it soon.
4. After each player has been the Sheriff twice, the game will be over.

Market Phase
Each player starting from the one on Sheriffs left and going clockwise, will perform an action. Make sure to always bold your choice to make it official.
a. You can pass and not exchange any cards
b. You can exchange your cards. In this case you indicate the following:
- what cards are you taking from discard piles. You may take any combination, but always take from the top
- how many cards are you drawing from Draw pile
- what ordered cards from your hand are you placing on discard pile (and which one)
Example:
Take Chicken, Crossbow from Left Discard. Take Apple from Right Discard. Take 1 card from Draw pile. Put down Mead, Cheese, Cheese, Bread on Right Discard.

Please always list cards in order you're drawing them. For discards, list them in reverse order (such that first card will land on top). So first card you draw is always on top. First card you discard is on the top. If in doubt, you can add (top) and (bottom) markers and the ends of your card list.
After player bolds his choice, the next player can proceed. Just mind the possible changes to discard piles.
Prince John will PM you about cards drawn from Draw pile when he's available.

Load Merchant Bag Phase
Players simultaneously PM me about items they're putting in their bag. You have to place 1 to 5 items.
When sending content of the Bag, make sure to also indicate what's your claim about the content (eg. 3 Chickens) and any initial bribes offers you'd like to present to the Sheriff.
Example:
PM to Prince John: Bag: 2xChicken, 1xCrossbow. Declare: 3 Chickens. Offer: "1 gold for all the hard work of our good Sheriff".

Players are encouraged, to also post Snap in the thread, to indicate that their bag is sealed.

Declaration Phase
Prince John will announce all declarations, once all bags are PMed to him. If for some reason you'd like to change your claim based on what people before you will declare (or would like to announce it yourself), please state appropriate CO or request it in your PM. However Prince John recommends not doing so, for the sake of making this PBF go smoothly. Plus it might raise suspicion on you.
Prince John will also present all offers, if any were made.

Inspection Phase
This phase is free form negotiation, bluffing and threat-feast for Sheriff. Each player may announce their offers, changed them, retract, etc.
To propose a new offer, just bold it. Old offer automatically becomes obsolete.
I offer 2 gold, because I'm more generous than that weasel who offered you 1 gold.
I offer 1 Cheese from my Bag and 1 Contraband from my Stand, if you'll let me through and open the bag of player B
You get the point. Read rules to make sure how future deals work.
You may also Retract my offer. Or just Offer 0 gold.

At any point during Inspection, Sheriff may bold one of those actions:
Allow player B to pass - to accept player B's most recent offer and give him his bag
Snap open player B's bag - to reject any offer from player B and inspect his bag

Owner of the bag or Prince John will announce the content of it immediately (when they're around) and will resolve any penalties/deals if needed.
In case any Contraband is inspected, Sheriff will have to properly discard illegal items, by bolding discard pile and order in which items are discarded.

Inspection Phase should end after 24 hours.

IF for some reason Inspection Phase won't be over after 24 hours (excluding weekends), we'll enter sudden death mode. In sudden death mode, Prince John holds the right to announce that Inspections are over at any point. Any unopened bags will be returned to their owners. Prince John guarantees, that sudden death mode won't last longer than 24 hours. So if you wish to push your luck, go ahead and extend inspection to 48 hours devil
If player knows in advance, that he won't be able to make the deadline, deadline might be extended. Unless Price John is in a bad mood.
Prince John might even hire a co-mod (co-Prince?) to handle sudden death when he's unavailable. After all, we all know that Prince John is timezone challenged.

End of Round
Prince John will resolve any remaining bags (if they weren't processed during Inspection Phase).
Each player will be dealt cards until they have 6 cars in hand.

Re: Sheriff of Nottingham PBF#1
You may post.
Please indicate, if there's any name you'd like to use for RP purposes.

Also, unless someone will tell me I've messed up, I'm assuming that Royal Goods count as that many normal objects:
Green Apples = 2 Apples
Golden Apples = 3 Apples
Gouda Cheese = 2 Cheese
Bleu Cheese = 3 Cheese
Rye Bread = 2 Breads
Pumpernickel Bread = 3 Breads
Royal Rooster = 2(?) Chickens

Please someone correct me if I'm wrong!

When everyone will check in, we'll begin

Or I won't even wait for everyone, since I've got everything ready. The game starts now. Hand updates will be sent soon.
If Mowglee or Clyde won't check in by Monday, they'll be replaced.

Of course, dear Earl King. Each subsequent change will cost you 5 gold, though. You can still change your name 7 times!

Yeah, sorry, been doing other stuff. It is the weekend, so no rush.

Take Silk, Cheese, Apples, Apples from the Left Discard.

Put Bread, Chickens, Mead, Silk on Right Discard.

That's an invalid action.
Please mind the order of cards on Discard pile. For Left Discard - Silk is on the bottom, Chickens are on top. So if you were to take 4 cards from Left, only Silk would remain there.

Left Discard, 5 cards: (bottom) Silk, Cheese, Apples, Apples, Chickens
Draw pile: 166 cards left
Right Discard, 5 cards: (bottom) Apples, Pepper, Royal Rooster, Mead, Crossbow

Seems like it would be simpler the other way around? Anyway.

Is that what others think as well? Would you rather have discard piles sorted such that bottom card is on the right?

I'd prefer it that way, but I'm okay with what everyone else wants. It was just confusing since I assumed the top was the left for whatever reason.

If I were first, I think I'd of made the same mistake May did.

I read top card first, bottom card last (from left to right). The word 'bottom' helps, but, can we reverse the order they appear so we are reading left to right?

So, something like:
Quote:

Left Discard, 2 cards: (top) Cheese, Silk (bottom)
Draw pile: 166 cards left
Right Discard, 8 cards: (top) Mead, Bread, Cheese, Crossbow, Mead, Royal Rooster, Pepper, Apples, (bottom)

This reads a little easier for me.
