Just a query.

I have been geekmodding and noticed that this link has been accepted

Publisher [Hurrican]
homepage: http://www.hurricangames.com/

the link, however just points to an ISP holder page.

should this not have been declined ( as I voted for ) until the webpage was actaully online, or does nobody else check the links before voting?

thanks.

gordon.

Yeah, I noticed the same thing (and also declined the link). It's pretty obvious the link is wrong, isn't it? I also posted a query about that. Let's see what happens.

This is not the only case of a wrong link getting accepted. The publisher page of Victory games, which was part of old Avallon Hill, (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/publisher/123) has a link to http://www.victory-games.com/, which has nothing to do with the Victory games intended here. I declined, but I'm afraid I was in the minority.

The question is, who is adding these links? There's no geek gold in it, if I'm correct. And at least the person who added the link should have checked once. Or am I overlooking something?

At least in march, it was 0.5 . I haven't submitted a publisher link since then.

And i fear many people just do a web search for the publisher or designer name (and maybe +game). I've seen a number of links which were supposed to be designers web sites, but in fact were just a few words about that designer in an online shop.
(note to self: must check these old links, and maybe send them to an admin for correction/removal)

[edit: typo in gg amount]

I think you get 0.5 GG for if your website correction is accepted.

Let's see. Just approved to delete the links for Hurrikan and Victory Games (which is just a game shop). Those were easily earned 0.5 for the poster.

So, victory-games link is up for deletion - again. Should I vote again to approve the deletion as I did before? I should, as this is a wrong link. On the other hand, I'll get "matches for declined" down from 50 % to 25 %. Oh, what the heck, I try again.

We're going to sink this link! Who's with me? arrrh

wow, that's a shame as http://www.hurricangames.com/ is owned by swissgames.com in a whois search, which is the new publisher for hurricangames. Which means that even though it is a placeholder, http://www.hurricangames.com/ is the right link for hurricangames.

Maybe the link poster did his homework. And of course the modders did not.

But what is the use of this page, if you want to inform yourself about hurricangames? You just get useless information, so why not delete it? Who knows if it will ever be used as information source for their games?

I'm sorry, I don't get your complaint. Swissgames.com is a domain for sale as well. What do these links have to do with the publishers? I don't want to be rude, I think I just don't quite understand your point here.

If it is correct I have no problem, if the poster has done their homework then not wait until the website is live with useful content, why direct people to a placeholder with links pointing to sites with no boardgame content at all!
