Have you ever wondered..."what # of players does this game play with well?"

In the last couple of years on BGG, I have to say I think this is one of the most asked questions. I would like to see an optimal # of players function instituted into the database, much like the rating and game weight system.

In the mean time, I've created a geeklist, which as of now includes 200 games, including the BGG top 259. Each night (or so) I tabulate all of the votes and compile them into handy statistics which will let you see at a glance where a game plays best, where it plays well, and where it doesn't work at all.

If you would be interested in helping out, please head over to:

http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/17016

And please read the instructions before posting!

Below is the complete list of games on the list so far. I will add more periodically, up until around game # 700 or so.

Just want to say what a wonderful idea this is, and that's for all the hard work. Sure would be nice to have this worked into the actual game pages, but at least we have it now. Everyone should be voting on the games they play to help make this more accurate.

Isn't there a way to do this with tags?

Hell if I know. I don't think most people use tags outside of tagging games with pictures of girls in them.

And anyway, I think this is a bit better than tags anyhow. Would you scrap the game rating system because that can be done with tags?

I'll give Puerto Rico a "10" tag, what tag do you give it?

The idea of giving you optimal number of player opinions is an interesting one, but the process of adding a comment to every item on a geeklist is so tedious that I gave up after the first one. (Puerto Rico - Best with five players! Second best with four. Third best with three. Never tried it with two. Isn't two an invented variant, not in the rules?)

I also found it discouraging that all that opinion had to be abridged down to a single thumbs-up for 5.

But it does look like you're getting some response, so I wish you good luck in putting together some useful data.
